Kemppi Master M 358 Pulse MIG/MAG Welding Machine

Description

Compact 350 A pulse MIG/MAG machine with TFT display and connectivity

The Kemppi Master M 358 is the top model of the Master M 350 series, compact MIG/MAG welding machines designed and manufactured in Finland. It offers Manual, Auto (synergic) and Auto Pulse MIG/MAG processes plus DC TIG and MMA, delivers 350 A at 40% duty cycle at 40 °C, and is distinguished from the 353 and 355 by a full-colour TFT display, integrated digital connectivity and 100 memory channels. It is offered as Master M 358 G for 380-460 V mains (item code MSM358G) and as the multi-voltage Master M 358 GM (MSM358GM), which also runs on 220-230 V.

The housing is injection-moulded reinforced plastic, designed to absorb knocks on site and in the workshop. Self-charging LED work lights operate with or without mains power, and the wire feed cabinet is lit as well.

Weld Assist, Work Pack software and arc processes

Weld Assist guides parameter setting: the welder selects joint type, welding position and material thickness, and the machine proposes settings that can still be adjusted manually. Kemppi states this is up to 60% faster than setting parameters by hand. Work Pack software covers 0.8, 0.9, 1.0 and 1.2 mm wires in Fe, Fe metal-cored, Fe and Ss rutile, Ss, AlMg5, AlSi5, CuSi3 and CuAl8. WiseFusion is included; MAX Speed, MAX Cool, MAX Position, WisePenetration and WiseSteel are optional.

Other standard features include Powerlog (three power levels selected with the gun trigger), gas guard with gas flow rotameter, automatic cable calibration for accurate arc voltage readings in WPS work, kinetic spool brake, PIN lock and safe-to-lift handle design. The 358 includes a three-month WeldEye ArcVision trial, and digital WPS is optional.

Options and related models

Options include the Master M cooler (MSMC1KW, 1.0 kW, 3 l tank) or its multi-voltage version (MSMC1KWM), GXR10 gun remote control, HR55 hand remote control with up to 10 m reach, SuperSnake GTX subfeeder kit (SP023803), two- and four-wheel carts, and a cabinet heater kit. For a non-pulse model in the same family, see the Kemppi Master M 323.

About brand
From Lahti, Finland, Kemppi has been building arc welding equipment since 1949. The current program runs from portable stick welders to industrial MIG/MAG and TIG power sources, supported by welding helmets and the WeldEye welding management software. Seven Star LLC lists Kemppi MIG/MAG, TIG and stick welding machines and supplies them to fabrication shops and site contractors in Oman.

Kemppi machine families listed here

Kemppi names its machines by family and current rating, which makes selection fairly direct:
  • Kempact 323A and Master M 323: compact MIG/MAG machines
  • X3 FastMig: industrial MIG/MAG system
  • Master S 500 and Minarc Evo 180: stick (MMA) welders
  • Master T 355 ACDC: AC/DC TIG machine
Kemppi sells several versions under one family name: the Master T series, for example, includes both 355 DC and 355 ACDC machines, so the full designation matters.

Where Kemppi welding machines are used

Portable units such as the Minarc Evo 180 suit maintenance and site work. The Master S stick machines are aimed at heavier electrode welding on structures and piping. MIG/MAG systems such as X3 FastMig are used in production welding of steel structures and machinery, and AC/DC TIG machines are chosen where aluminum has to be welded alongside stainless and carbon steel. Fabricators across the GCC use this mix for oil and gas, construction and general engineering jobs.

Ordering Kemppi equipment: what we need

Send the full model name and, if you have it, the Kemppi order code. State the mains supply at your site, single or three phase and the voltage, since several models exist in different supply versions. Tell us if you need the power source alone or a package with wire feeder, torch, earth cable, cooling unit and cart. For torches and wear parts, send the torch model and the wire diameter or electrode size. For an older machine, the serial number from the rating plate lets us check parts against the manufacturer documentation.
