AUMA GK 16.2 Bevel Gearbox (1,000 Nm)
Description
Overview
AUMA GK 16.2 is the mid-range bevel gearbox of the GK family, designed for gate valves and globe valves that need up to 1,000 Nm of torque with the actuator offset by 90 degrees. It is the size where AUMA first offers several different valve-torque ratings on one housing: 450, 500, 700, 800 and 1,000 Nm, depending on the reduction ratio chosen, with a permissible modulating torque of 400 Nm for regulating duty. For plant engineers this means a single F16 flange and a single 25 kg gearbox can serve a wide span of medium-sized valves.
Seven Star LLC, official trusted supplier and regional supplier for AUMA, supplies the AUMA GK 16.2 across the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC. Because six ratio variants exist, some of them special ratios on request, we match the ratio to your valve torque and to the SA 14.2 or SA 14.6 actuator before quoting, and we supply the gearbox with manufacturer documentation.
Operating Principle of the AUMA GK 16.2
The AUMA GK 16.2 is a single-stage bevel gearbox with face-hobbed Palloid toothing that transmits the input rotation to the output drive sleeve at a right angle. Because it is a multi-turn gearbox in the sense of ISO 22153, the output sleeve can rotate through several turns and withstand axial thrust, so a stem nut can be fitted to drive rising-stem valves like a screw jack. The standard direction of rotation is clockwise at the input giving clockwise at the output, and the GW 14.1 reversing gearbox is available where the opposite is needed.
The six ratio variants span a wide torque window. The 1:1 special ratio (factor 0.9) is rated for 450 Nm with an input torque of 500 Nm, the 2.8:1 special ratio (factor 2.5) for 800 Nm with 320 Nm of input torque, the 4:1 ratio (factor 3.6) for 1,000 Nm with 278 Nm, the 4:1 special ratio for 500 Nm with 140 Nm, the 5.6:1 ratio (factor 5.0) for 1,000 Nm with 198 Nm and the 5.6:1 special ratio for 700 Nm with 140 Nm. The modulating input torques range from 80 Nm at 5.6:1 to 444 Nm at 1:1.
Engineering Design of the AUMA GK 16.2
The valve attachment is F16 according to EN ISO 5210 (G3 according to DIN 3210) with output drive types A, B1, B2, B3 and B4. Input shafts are 30 mm for most ratios and 20 mm for the 4:1 and 5.6:1 special ratios, with a 40 mm option on the 1:1 version, and the input shaft is stainless steel with a parallel key to DIN 6885.1. The input flange is F14 for every ratio with a permissible actuator weight of 80 kg: the 1:1 and 2.8:1 special ratios take an SA 14.6 or SAR 14.6, the 4:1 ratio takes an SA 14.2 or SA 14.6, and the remaining ratios take an SA 14.2 or SAR 14.2.
The housing weighs 25 kg including the output drive sleeve and grease filling, mounts in any position and is protected to IP68 with KS corrosion protection and a double-layer powder coating in AUMA silver-grey. The temperature range is -40 to +80 degrees Celsius as standard, with -60 to +60 and 0 to +120 degree options. For ATEX service the standard marking is II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb and II 2D Ex h IIIC T130 degrees Celsius Db, and a lockable handwheel or WSH limit switching device can be added for manual duty.

Key Features
The AUMA GK 16.2 is the practical choice for medium valves where torque, ratio and actuator all need to line up:
- Valve torque up to 1,000 Nm with a permissible modulating torque of 400 Nm.
- Six ratio variants from 1:1 to 5.6:1 with factors between 0.9 and 5.0.
- F16 valve attachment to EN ISO 5210 (G3 to DIN 3210) with output drive types A and B1 to B4.
- Mounting of SA 14.2, SA 14.6 and SAR equivalents through an F14 input flange up to 80 kg.
- Input torque as low as 140 Nm at the 4:1 and 5.6:1 special ratios, keeping the actuator frame small.
- Stainless steel input shaft, 30 mm or 20 mm depending on ratio, with parallel key.
- Weight of 25 kg including output drive sleeve and grease filling.
- IP68, KS corrosion protection and ATEX marking II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb as standard.
Industrial Applications
Medium-size gate valves on desalination feed lines, globe valves on boiler feedwater and steam isolation, and stop valves on pump discharge headers commonly sit in the 450 to 1,000 Nm range served by the AUMA GK 16.2. Placing the actuator beside the stem rather than above it is useful in pipe galleries and pits around Sohar and Duqm, and the modulating torque of 400 Nm allows throttling duty on selected valves with an SAR actuator in the same combination.
In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the AUMA GK 16.2 with SA and SAR actuators, controls and handwheels to utilities, EPC contractors and industrial users across Oman and the GCC, including projects in Salalah. About brand
Electric actuators for industrial valves are the core of AUMA's business. Founded in 1964 and based in Müllheim, Germany, the company builds multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators with matching gearboxes and actuator controls, in modular combinations that are fixed at the time of order.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA actuators, gearboxes, fail-safe units and the SIMA2 master station for valve automation projects and replacements in Oman and the GCC.
AUMA actuator and gearbox types
SA multi-turn actuators handle open-close duty on gate and globe valves, and SAR is the modulating version; the listing includes the SA 07.2, SA 10.2 and SA 25.1. SAEx and SAREx are the explosion-proof equivalents. Part-turn duty on ball and butterfly valves is covered by SQ and the modulating SQR, or by an SA actuator combined with a GS part-turn gearbox. LE linear thrust units convert multi-turn output to thrust, and GHT multi-turn gearboxes extend the torque range up to 120,000 Nm. PROFOX is the compact actuator line. Special items include the seawater-resistant SGM and SGMR part-turn actuators with bronze housings, the SVC and SVCR globe valve actuators and the FQM fail-safe unit. Integral controls come as AM or AC versions.Where AUMA electric actuators are used
AUMA actuators are found in water, power, oil and gas, marine and general industry. In practice that means isolation and control valves in water treatment and pumping stations, power plant steam and cooling systems, tank farms and pipelines, and sluice gates and dampers.Ordering AUMA actuators and parts: what we need
