JUMO dTRANS T01 Two-Wire Transmitter

Description

Overview

JUMO dTRANS T01 is a programmable two-wire transmitter that acquires temperature through an RTD temperature probe or thermocouple, converting the sensor signal into a linearized 4 to 20 mA output. Installed in a terminal head type B or mounted on a DIN rail, the JUMO dTRANS T01 supports connection in two-wire, three-wire, or four-wire circuits for RTD probes, and its Ex-rated version is designed specifically for installation in potentially explosive areas.

With engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC supplies the JUMO dTRANS T01 two-wire transmitter to industrial process and instrumentation customers across Oman and the wider GCC. Every unit supplied through Seven Star LLC comes with manufacturer documentation and access to local technical support – supporting facility engineers and procurement teams in Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah who specify the JUMO dTRANS T01.

Working Principle

The JUMO dTRANS T01 accepts a resistance signal from Pt100, Pt500, or Pt1000 RTD temperature probes, connectable via two-wire, three-wire, or four-wire circuits, or a millivolt signal from a wide range of thermocouple types including J, K, L, U, T, E, N, S, R, B, D, and C, depending on the specific variant ordered. Onboard signal processing linearizes the raw sensor signal – with customer-specific linearization available for non-standard sensor curves – and outputs a standardized, invertible 4 to 20 mA current loop signal, powered entirely by the loop in genuine two-wire fashion.

Configuration is performed via a PC interface using JUMO’s setup software, with the HART version configurable through a HART modem, allowing the measuring range, sensor type, and linearization to be programmed without opening the enclosure in the field. Sensor break and sensor short-circuit detection continuously monitor the health of the connected RTD probe, flagging a fault condition before it can propagate an undetected bad reading into the control system.

Engineering Design of the JUMO dTRANS T01

The JUMO dTRANS T01 operates across an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (or -25°C to +70°C for the Junior variant), and is powered from a DC 11.5 to 30 V two-wire supply. Calibration accuracy is rated at ±0.05%, and galvanic isolation of 3.75 kV, 2 kV, or 1 kV (depending on configuration) separates the input and output circuits for improved noise immunity and electrical safety.

The transmitter mounts either directly in a terminal head type B or on a standard 35 x 7.5 mm mounting/DIN rail, and the Ex-rated version complies with ATEX and IECEx directives for use in classified hazardous areas, alongside NAMUR NE21 compliance for electromagnetic compatibility. This combination of compact form factor, wide sensor compatibility, and hazardous area approval makes the dTRANS T01 a flexible retrofit option for both new installations and legacy temperature loop upgrades.

Key Features

The JUMO dTRANS T01 combines broad sensor compatibility with precise, field-programmable configuration that makes it a standard choice for two-wire temperature signal transmission.

  • Accepts Pt100, Pt500, and Pt1000 RTD probes in two-, three-, or four-wire circuits, plus a wide range of thermocouple types.
  • Calibration accuracy of ±0.05% supports demanding process temperature measurement requirements.
  • Galvanic isolation up to 3.75 kV between input and output improves noise immunity and electrical safety.
  • Sensor break and short-circuit detection flag RTD probe faults before they propagate a bad reading downstream.
  • Customer-specific linearization tailors the transmitter’s response to non-standard sensor curves.
  • PC-based or HART-modem-based configuration allows field programming without opening the enclosure.
  • An Ex-rated version, ATEX/IECEx approved, supports installation in classified hazardous areas.
  • Compact installation in a terminal head type B or on a standard DIN rail suits diverse mounting requirements.

Industrial Applications

The JUMO dTRANS T01 is deployed across general process industries, oil and gas, and manufacturing wherever a compact, field-configurable temperature transmitter is needed to convert RTD or thermocouple signals into a standardized current loop output. Typical duties include head-mounted temperature transducer installations, panel-mounted DIN rail signal conditioning, and hazardous-area temperature loops requiring ATEX/IECEx-approved equipment.

Backed by manufacturer datasheet documentation, Seven Star LLC distributes the JUMO dTRANS T01 to process plants, oil and gas facilities, and industrial operations throughout Oman and the GCC. The transmitter is a strong fit for temperature signal conditioning across the Sohar and Salalah industrial zones, as well as for hazardous-area installations across Muscat that require dependable, ATEX-approved two-wire temperature transmission.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.
