JUMO PINOS L02 Calorimetric Flow Sensor and Flow Switch for Liquids, Type 406041

Description

A flow switch and flow sensor with no moving parts for pumps, cooling circuits and lubrication lines

The JUMO PINOS L02 (type 406041) measures and monitors the flow velocity of liquid media using the calorimetric principle: a heating element is cooled by the passing liquid, and the higher the velocity the more heat is carried away from the temperature probe. With no moving parts to disturb the flow profile, the sensor reports an admissible flow range of 0 to 300 cm/s at nominal pressure up to 75 bar. It can output a 4 to 20 mA signal, a PNP switching output or both, and either output can be set to flow velocity or medium temperature. JUMO names cooling water circuits, pumps, heat exchangers, lubrication circuits, leakage monitoring on process lines and dry-run protection for pumps as the main uses.

Fittings and sensor length

Choose the sensor length to suit the pipe. The datasheet carries an installation recommendation table by nominal width and fitting type with probe lengths of 37, 51 and 65 mm, in which the longest 65 mm probe is shown for DN 50, and 51 mm is given for additional nominal widths. Stainless steel welded sockets M18 x 1.5 for 316L pipe are listed in part numbers 00667698 (DN 20), 00659696 (DN 25), 00659697 (DN 32), 00659699 (DN 40) and 00659700 (DN 50), rated PN 75 and -25 to +90 degC; they need a 20 mm hole to be drilled and the socket welded on. Screw-in adapters in 316L are listed for G 1/2 (00669206), G 3/4 (00669205), 1/2 NPT (00699496) and 3/4 NPT (00699495), rated PN 25 and -25 to +90 degC.

The sensor can be rotated 360 degrees, so the housing may be aligned in any installation position regardless of flow direction, but the preferred direction is flow toward the M12 connector, and inlet and outlet sections follow the operating manual. Mounting position is horizontal or vertical. The sensor version with on-site calibration (99) allows calibration for low and high flow velocity when medium or velocity differ from the default settings.

Setup, accessories and enquiry details

A switch point can be set on site with the push button, and a PC setup program (CD-ROM 00694887) over a 3 m micro USB cable (00616250) archives and prints configurations and allows the output behaviour on over-range to be set. The micro USB interface is for configuration only and continuous operation through it is not admissible. M12 cable boxes with 2 m PVC cable are available straight (00404585) or angled (00409334).

See flow indicators and switches for further flow switches and indicators. Enquiries should state the liquid, pipe nominal width and material, temperature, pressure, desired switching or analog behaviour, and whether factory or on-site calibration is wanted.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
