EVR 10: a 5/8 in brass solenoid valve body for refrigerant liquid lines

Danfoss 032L1214 is an EVR 10 solenoid valve body, normally closed (NC), with 5/8 in (16 mm) ODF solder connections and a brass housing. Inside, a servo diaphragm lifts the main seat when the coil is energised, which lets a small coil control a 10 mm orifice. The Kv value is 2.2 m3/h and the net weight is 0.417 kg.

Coil choice and pressure differential

The MaxOPD values printed are 38 bar with a 10 W AC coil, 20 bar with a 20 W DC coil and 38 bar with a BJ/BX coil. The minimum opening differential is 0.03 bar (0.44 psi). Because the coil determines the MOPD, a wrong coil can leave the valve unable to open against the high-side pressure, so check the coil type in the Danfoss accessories list.

The EVR range is made for liquid, suction and hot-gas lines in refrigeration and air-conditioning with fluorinated refrigerants. The code with 10 mm orifice and a Kv of 2.2 m3/h sits in the lower-middle of the series, between the EVR 6 and the EVR 15.

Mounting and ordering checks

Install with the coil upward or within 90 degrees of vertical, and fit a filter-drier ahead of the valve, because particles lodge in the seat. Braze with the body wrapped in wet cloth. Insulate the valve where it is in a cold line. The page lists UL, EAC and UA approvals; 032L5098 appears as an identical product.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
