Description
EVR 40 NO: a normally open 2 1/8 in refrigeration valve for large lines
The 032L1045 is an EVR 40 in the less common normally open version. When the coil has no power, the piston stays open and refrigerant flows; applying current closes the valve. That is the inverse of the NC types, and it is used where a failure of supply should keep the line open, for instance on hot-gas bypass and pump-down logic designed that way.
The solder connections are 2 1/8 in with extended ends, the body is cast iron, the orifice 25.4 mm and the Kv 24.2 m3/h. The data sheet lists NC and NO versions with de-energised coil and a media temperature of up to 105 C, with a defrost peak of 130 C per the store entry.

NO function and pressure limits
The store gives the same MOPD figure of 21 bar for all coils, 10 W AC, 14 W AC, 20 W DC and BJ/BX, and the minimum opening differential is 0.2 bar for this piston servo design. Design the system so that the closing function, which needs voltage, works at the highest differential pressure that can occur.
No manual operation is provided on this code. Working pressure is 45.2 bar, and the compatible refrigerants include R22, R134a, R404A, R407A, R407C and R1234ze(E), with lubricant compatibility for mineral, AB, PAG, PAO, POE and PVE oils.
Weight, brazing and ordering
At 4.42 kg this is a heavy valve for a refrigerant line, so support the pipe and do not hang the weight on the solder joints. Remove or protect the piston parts if the data sheet requires it before brazing, and keep the body from overheating.

The NO function is chosen deliberately, so verify the control logic with the plant designer before ordering. A valve ordered by mistake as NO instead of NC can leave a circuit open after a power failure. Large piston valves close with force, so check for noise and hammer when the first cycle is run.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
