Böhler FOXcore 316L-T1 E316LT1-4 Stainless Flux-Cored Wire

Description

Rutile 316L flux-cored wire for all-position stainless fabrication

The Böhler FOXcore 316L-T1 is a rutile flux-cored wire of type 316L / T 19 12 3 L P, classified AWS A5.22 E316LT1-4(1). Böhler Welding designed it for 316L / 1.4404 and 1.4432 type stainless steels with good resistance to general, pitting and intergranular corrosion in chloride-containing environments, intended for severe service such as dilute hot acids. It is also suitable for titanium- or niobium-stabilised 316Ti / 1.4571 steels for service temperatures not exceeding 750 °F; above that a niobium-stabilised consumable such as FOXcore 318-T1 is required. The wire can be used in all positions without changing parameters, with a fast-freezing slag, very good slag detachability, almost no spatter and a wide arc for even root and side-wall penetration.

Using the wire in practice

No pulsing is needed; the data sheet prefers a backhand (drag) technique with a work angle of about 80 degrees on a standard GMAW power source. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not needed and solution annealing at 1920 °F with water quench is mentioned only for special cases. For flat and horizontal positions Böhler points to FOXcore 316L-T0 DG instead. In a mixed stainless programme this wire pairs with the for buffer layers and the

electrode for sheet work, and the rod is the TIG root choice.

Handling and ordering notes

Keep stainless wire away from carbon steel dust and tools, and remove heat tint on welds exposed to chlorides. Confirm the diameter and spool type, gas, base grade, service temperature and certificate type when ordering. State whether class approvals (ABS, DNV GL, LR, BV) are needed, since some are tied to a gas type or wire diameter on the data sheet.

About brand

Böhler Welding is the welding consumables brand of voestalpine Böhler Welding, part of the voestalpine group, with a portfolio that covers stick electrodes, TIG rods, solid wires, gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored wires and submerged-arc wires and fluxes. The company states more than 100 years of experience. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Böhler Welding consumables and welding machines, including pipeline electrodes, and sources Böhler Welding consumables for fabricators and pipeline contractors.

Böhler Welding product groups

Beyond the consumables above, Böhler Welding lists strip cladding, wire arc additive manufacturing, metal powders, arc spraying cored wires, ceramic weld backing, brazing consumables and welding automation such as orbital welding and collaborative robots. The pipeline range includes cellulosic FOX CEL electrodes and basic vertical-down FOX BVD electrodes for large-diameter line pipe.

Ordering Böhler Welding consumables: what we need

Give the product name, the AWS or EN classification, the diameter and length, and the packaging you need. For pipeline electrodes also state the pipe grade, wall thickness, welding position and whether sour-service test values are required, because the Böhler Welding data sheets note that some test values are available on request.
