Kobelco PREMIARC DW-316LP-XR Low-Cr6 Stainless Flux-Cored Wire
Description
All-position stainless flux-cored wire with reduced hexavalent chromium fume
The Kobelco PREMIARC DW-316LP-XR is a rutile flux-cored wire for all-position welding of 316-type austenitic stainless steel, classified AWS A5.22 E316LT1-1/4. The XR suffix marks a formulation designed to emit less hexavalent chromium in the welding fume than conventional wires. Kobelco refers to the OSHA exposure limit of 0.005 mg/m3 for hexavalent chromium and presents the lower emission as a contribution to a safer shop environment.
Kobelco states excellent all-position performance, including with either 75% Ar – 25% CO2 or 100% CO2, and a 1.2 mm wire on a 28 lb spool. The brochure covers three wires in this all-position XR line, so this page shows the series with the 316LP-XR as the lead model.

Choosing and welding with the LP-XR wires
Use the 316LP-XR on 316 and 316L stainless where molybdenum is required, the 308LP-XR for 304-type steels, and the 309LP-XR for stainless-to-carbon-steel joints and buffer layers. All three are intended for vertical-up and overhead work as well as flat and horizontal positions. For flat and horizontal work only, Kobelco has a separate XR line (DW-308L-XR, DW-309L-XR and DW-316L-XR) with its own brochure.
Welding parameters in the brochure are approximate and vary with cable length and setup, and the fume figures are typical values obtained under Kobelco test conditions, so the fume reduction should be confirmed against site exposure monitoring. Browse the flux-cored welding wire category for other wires, including the carbon steel Kobelco DW-50.
Hexavalent chromium forms in the arc when chromium in stainless wires is oxidized, and it is the main health concern in stainless welding fume. Reduced-emission wires lower the amount generated at the source, but they do not replace local exhaust ventilation, respiratory protection where the risk assessment calls for it, or exposure monitoring. The ferrite numbers on the data sheet are typical values, so request the batch certificate if a project specifies a ferrite range for the weld metal.

About brand
Kobelco is the brand name used by Kobe Steel, founded in 1905 in Kobe, Japan, on its steel, welding and machinery products. In process plants the name is seen on screw, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, and in fabrication shops on welding consumables. Seven Star LLC lists Kobelco compressor spare parts and welding wire and supplies them to operators in Oman.
Kobelco parts and consumables listed here
Three compressor items are listed: the VGP31649#01 rotor assembly for the third and fourth stage, a lubricator assembly and a low level alarm pump assembly. These are machine-specific spares. The fourth item is Kobelco DW-50, a rutile flux-cored welding wire for carbon steel that the manufacturer classifies as AWS A5.20 E71T-1C/1M.Ordering Kobelco spare parts: what we need
Compressor spares are identified through the machine, not through a catalog. Send the compressor model and serial number from the nameplate, the Kobelco part number, and the item number and drawing number from the parts list in your manual. A photo of the old part and its markings helps. For Kobelco welding wire, send the trade name, the AWS classification your procedure calls for, the wire diameter, spool weight and quantity. We handle Kobelco compressor parts inquiries from across the GCC and check every part number against the manufacturer documentation.Browse Kobelco products by category: Compressor.
