Böhler FOX EV 70 E9018-G NiMo High-Strength Electrode

Description

E9018-G NiMo electrode for 550 MPa class fine-grained steel

The Böhler FOX EV 70 is a basic-coated, Mo-Ni alloyed stick electrode with high ductility and crack resistance for high-strength fine-grained steels. Böhler Welding lists it as EN ISO 18275-A E 55 6 1NiMo B 4 2 H5 and AWS A5.5 E9018-G H4R (also E9018-D1 H4R, modified), for service temperatures between -60 °C and +350 °C. Metal recovery is about 115 %, handling is easy in all positions except vertical-down, and the coating is moisture resistant with a very low hydrogen content below 4 ml per 100 g weld metal.

Handling and what to confirm

Preheat, interpass temperature and post-weld heat treatment are chosen for the base metal, not for the electrode, as the data sheet states. Keep the packs sealed and redry only if moisture has been picked up. When ordering, confirm the plate grade and thickness, the toughness temperature and test condition the code asks for, the diameters and lengths in millimetres, and whether TÜV or other certificates are needed with the delivery.

About brand

Böhler Welding is the welding consumables brand of voestalpine Böhler Welding, part of the voestalpine group, with a portfolio that covers stick electrodes, TIG rods, solid wires, gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored wires and submerged-arc wires and fluxes. The company states more than 100 years of experience. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Böhler Welding consumables and welding machines, including pipeline electrodes, and sources Böhler Welding consumables for fabricators and pipeline contractors.

Böhler Welding product groups

Beyond the consumables above, Böhler Welding lists strip cladding, wire arc additive manufacturing, metal powders, arc spraying cored wires, ceramic weld backing, brazing consumables and welding automation such as orbital welding and collaborative robots. The pipeline range includes cellulosic FOX CEL electrodes and basic vertical-down FOX BVD electrodes for large-diameter line pipe.

Ordering Böhler Welding consumables: what we need

Give the product name, the AWS or EN classification, the diameter and length, and the packaging you need. For pipeline electrodes also state the pipe grade, wall thickness, welding position and whether sour-service test values are required, because the Böhler Welding data sheets note that some test values are available on request.
