Böhler FOX EV 85 E11018-G H4R High-Strength Electrode

Description

E11018-G electrode for quenched and tempered steel up to 690 MPa yield

The Böhler FOX EV 85 is a basic-coated, Mn-Ni-Mo alloyed stick electrode for high-strength quenched and tempered fine-grained constructional steels. Böhler Welding lists it as EN ISO 18275-A E 69 6 Mn2NiCrMo B 4 2 H5 and AWS A5.5 E11018-G H4R (also E11018M H4R, modified). The data sheet claims high ductility and crack resistance, low-temperature ductility at -60 °C, easy weldability in all positions except vertical-down, and a very low hydrogen content below 4 ml per 100 g with a moisture-resistant coating.

Plate grades it is matched to

Böhler lists quenched and tempered fine-grained steels up to 690 MPa yield strength: S620Q, S620QL, S690Q, S690QL, S620QL1 to S690QL1, alform plate 620 M and 700 M, aldur 620 Q and 700 Q grades, ASTM A 514 Gr. F, H and Q, and A 709 Gr. 100 Type B, E, F, H and Q including HPS 100W. These steels are used for mobile crane booms, heavy lifting equipment and other weight-critical structures, where the weld must be matched to the plate and the hydrogen level controlled. Welding practice and ordering notes

High-strength deposits are sensitive to hydrogen and to heat input. Follow the base-metal supplier guidance for preheat, interpass temperature and any post-weld heat treatment, as the data sheet requires, keep electrodes dry, and use the redrying range only after moisture exposure. Confirm the plate grade and thickness, the toughness requirement and test temperature, the diameters wanted in millimetres, and the certificates required with the delivery.

Documents and quotation

The Böhler Welding data sheet for FOX EV 85 is attached to this page and carries the classifications, analysis, mechanical values and operating data quoted above. Related items are listed under welding electrodes. A quotation needs diameter, pack type, quantity, base material and certificate type.

About brand

Böhler Welding is the welding consumables brand of voestalpine Böhler Welding, part of the voestalpine group, with a portfolio that covers stick electrodes, TIG rods, solid wires, gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored wires and submerged-arc wires and fluxes. The company states more than 100 years of experience. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Böhler Welding consumables and welding machines, including pipeline electrodes, and sources Böhler Welding consumables for fabricators and pipeline contractors.

Böhler Welding product groups

Beyond the consumables above, Böhler Welding lists strip cladding, wire arc additive manufacturing, metal powders, arc spraying cored wires, ceramic weld backing, brazing consumables and welding automation such as orbital welding and collaborative robots. The pipeline range includes cellulosic FOX CEL electrodes and basic vertical-down FOX BVD electrodes for large-diameter line pipe.

Ordering Böhler Welding consumables: what we need

Give the product name, the AWS or EN classification, the diameter and length, and the packaging you need. For pipeline electrodes also state the pipe grade, wall thickness, welding position and whether sour-service test values are required, because the Böhler Welding data sheets note that some test values are available on request.
