Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 4-Channel Memosens Multiparameter Transmitter
Overview of the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 Four-Channel Memosens Transmitter
The Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 is a field transmitter for digital Memosens sensors, aimed at plants that measure several liquid parameters at one point. In the Technical Information, Endress+Hauser describes the Liquiline CM442, CM444 and CM448 as a family of multiparameter transmitters with up to eight measuring channels; the CM444 sits in the middle, with four Memosens inputs from two modules and room in its slots for current inputs and outputs, relays, digital I/O and a fieldbus module.
As the official trusted supplier and regional supplier for Endress+Hauser, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 to customers across the Sultanate of Oman and the wider GCC. Seven Star LLC provides the Technical Information TI00444C with each offer, so that water, wastewater and process engineers in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah can configure the module set before ordering.
Measuring System of the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444
The Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 does not measure on its own: it works with Memosens sensors and assemblies. Memosens transfers the signal digitally and contactlessly through an inductive coupling, which gives galvanic isolation, avoids contact corrosion and keeps the connection watertight, and sensors can be calibrated in the laboratory and exchanged hot as plug-and-play. The Technical Information lists measuring points for pH and ORP, conductivity (inductive and conductive), oxygen (optical and amperometric), nitrate and spectral absorption coefficient, turbidity and interface, disinfection, and ion-selective electrodes for ammonium and nitrate.
Inputs are assigned to channels in ascending slot and port order, so that "CH1: 1:1 pH glass" means channel 1 on slot 1, port 1. In the CM444 the basic module BASE2-E supplies two sensor inputs and two current outputs, and a 2DS module adds two more digital sensor inputs. An example order in the manual combines four Memosens inputs, PROFIBUS communication, a web server, two current outputs and two current inputs, with free slots left for relays or digital I/O. Mathematical functions can calculate new measured values from several channels.
Engineering Design of the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444
The field housing is made of flame-retardant polycarbonate with EPDM seals and stainless steel clamps, weighs about 2.1 kg, and is rated IP66/67 and NEMA Type 4X. A weather protection cover is recommended for outdoor mounting. The CM444 runs from 100 to 230 V AC or from 24 V DC, with a maximum consumption of 73 VA or 68 W, and the permitted ambient temperature is generally –20 to +55 °C. A 240 × 160 pixel transflective graphic display with a red alarm background is operated by a navigator and soft keys.
Communication options are HART, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus TCP or RS485, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP, with one active fieldbus at a time selected by an activation code, plus an integrated web server for full access to configuration, measured values and diagnostics. With the Ethernet functions via the base module, up to six current outputs can run in parallel in the CM444. A data logbook stores measured values in non-volatile memory and exports to SD card or Ethernet and the Field Data Manager software.
Key Features of the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444
This transmitter offers the following capabilities according to the manufacturer’s documentation:
- Four digital Memosens measuring channels in a single field transmitter, with a modular concept for further inputs and outputs.
- Measurement of pH, ORP, conductivity, oxygen, turbidity, nitrate, SAC, chlorine and ions with matching Memosens sensors.
- Choice of cleaning function, controller and alarm relay, with relay modules of two or four contacts.
- Optional current inputs and outputs, digital inputs and outputs, with a limit of eight current inputs and outputs in total.
- Fieldbus options of HART, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP, with a built-in web server.
- Heartbeat diagnostics that grade the health of the device and the condition of the sensor in line with NAMUR categories.
- Measuring range switching for conductivity through digital inputs or fieldbus, using an upgrade code.
- Hardware upgrade kits to extend a Liquiline to more channels without replacing the basic device.
Industrial Applications of the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444
The Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM444 is used where several parameters must be monitored and controlled together, such as pH, conductivity and turbidity in water treatment, nitrate, ammonium and oxygen in aeration basins of wastewater plants, chlorine and pH in drinking water, and cooling-water conductivity in power plants. In the Sultanate of Oman, typical sites include desalination and reverse osmosis plants, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, district cooling and utility systems in the Sohar and Salalah economic zones, and food, beverage and chemical production.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Liquiline platform throughout Oman and the GCC. Buyers can compare the two-channel Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM442 and the Liquiline M CM42, or add the
