AUMA GK 10.2 Bevel Gearbox (120 Nm)

Description

Overview

AUMA GK 10.2 is the smallest size of the GK bevel gearbox range and the right choice when a compact multi-turn valve needs its actuator or handwheel turned through 90 degrees. With 120 Nm of nominal valve torque, 60 Nm of modulating torque and a weight of just 8.5 kg, it handles small gate valves, globe valves and rising-stem isolation valves that sit in tight pipe racks, valve chambers or skids where a vertically mounted actuator would not fit. Only two ratios are offered, 1:1 and 2:1, so the AUMA GK 10.2 is also the simplest gearbox in the family to specify.

In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the AUMA GK 10.2 throughout the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC. We confirm that the valve torque, the stem attachment and the chosen SA or SAR actuator agree with AUMA’s data before ordering, so that the small gearbox arrives as part of a coordinated automation package with manufacturer documentation.

Working Principle of the AUMA GK 10.2

The AUMA GK 10.2 is a single-stage bevel gearbox: a bevel pinion on the horizontal input shaft meshes with a bevel gear on the output drive sleeve and displaces the effective direction of rotation by 90 degrees. Clockwise rotation at the input shaft gives clockwise rotation at the output drive as standard, and a GW 14.1 reversing gearbox can reverse the direction where the layout requires it. The 1:1 ratio only deflects the direction, while the 2:1 ratio also doubles the torque.

In the 1:1 version the conversion factor is 0.9, which means an actuator torque of 135 Nm at the input shaft delivers 120 Nm at the valve, with a modulating input torque of 66 Nm. In the 2:1 version the factor is 1.8, so only 67 Nm of nominal input torque and 33 Nm of modulating input torque are needed for the same 120 and 60 Nm valve torques. AUMA recommends adding 15 percent to the input torque for new gearboxes because the run-in efficiency is lower, and both ratios use a 20 mm input shaft.

Engineering Design of the AUMA GK 10.2

The valve attachment is F10 according to EN ISO 5210 (G0 according to DIN 3210), with output drive types A, B1, B2, B3 and B4 available as well as special attachments. Input mounting flanges let the gearbox accept an SA 10.2 or SAR 10.2 on either ratio, an SA 14.2 or SAR 14.2 on the 1:1 ratio through an F14 flange, and an SA 07.6 or SAR 07.6 on the 2:1 ratio, with a permissible actuator weight of 40 kg on the F10 flange and 80 kg on the F14 flange.

The input shaft is made of stainless steel with a parallel key to DIN 6885.1, and a square for power tool emergency operation is an option with a maximum input speed of 240 rpm. The gearbox can be installed in any position, is rated IP68 with KS corrosion protection, and withstands -40 to +80 degrees Celsius as standard. For hazardous areas the standard marking is II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb and II 2D Ex h IIIC T130 degrees Celsius Db, and the average output torque for ATEX open-close duty is 40 Nm at 1:1 and 60 Nm at 2:1.

Ratio and Torque Data of the AUMA GK 10.2

The two ratios of the AUMA GK 10.2 differ only in input torque and conversion factor, as the AUMA data sheet figures show.

Ratio Factor Max. input torque, nominal Max. input torque, modulating Input shaft Suitable actuator
1:1 0.9 135 Nm 66 Nm 20 mm SA 10.2 / SAR 10.2 (F10) or SA 14.2 / SAR 14.2 (F14)
2:1 1.8 67 Nm 33 Nm 20 mm SA 07.6 / SAR 07.6 or SA 10.2 / SAR 10.2 (F10)

Both ratios share the same 8.5 kg housing, the same valve torque of 120 Nm and the same F10 output flange.

Key Features

The AUMA GK 10.2 packs the full GK architecture into the smallest practical housing:

  • Right-angle bevel gearing that displaces the operating direction by 90 degrees for tight installations.
  • Nominal valve torque of 120 Nm and permissible modulating torque of 60 Nm.
  • Two ratios, 1:1 and 2:1, with factors of 0.9 and 1.8 for simple actuator selection.
  • F10 valve attachment to EN ISO 5210 (G0 to DIN 3210) with output drive types A and B1 to B4.
  • Light weight of 8.5 kg including the output drive sleeve and grease filling.
  • Stainless steel 20 mm input shaft with parallel key, and optional square for power tool operation.
  • Direct mounting of SA 07.6, SA 10.2 and SA 14.2 actuators and their SAR modulating versions.
  • IP68 enclosure, KS corrosion protection and ATEX marking II 2G Ex h IIC T4 Gb as standard.

Industrial Applications

Small isolation gate valves on water treatment skids, chemical dosing globe valves and building-services valves in plant rooms often leave no room for a vertical actuator, and the AUMA GK 10.2 lets the SA or SAR actuator sit alongside the valve instead of above it. A district-cooling plant in Muscat, a hospital utility room or a hotel plant basement are typical locations where the 90-degree deflection turns a clearance problem into a straightforward installation, and the 2:1 ratio lets the smaller SA 07.6 do the work.

In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the AUMA GK 10.2 to EPC contractors, facility managers and industrial users across Oman and the GCC, including customers in the Sohar and Salalah economic zones. About brand
Electric actuators for industrial valves are the core of AUMA's business. Founded in 1964 and based in Müllheim, Germany, the company builds multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators with matching gearboxes and actuator controls, in modular combinations that are fixed at the time of order. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA actuators, gearboxes, fail-safe units and the SIMA2 master station for valve automation projects and replacements in Oman and the GCC.

AUMA actuator and gearbox types

SA multi-turn actuators handle open-close duty on gate and globe valves, and SAR is the modulating version; the listing includes the SA 07.2, SA 10.2 and SA 25.1. SAEx and SAREx are the explosion-proof equivalents. Part-turn duty on ball and butterfly valves is covered by SQ and the modulating SQR, or by an SA actuator combined with a GS part-turn gearbox. LE linear thrust units convert multi-turn output to thrust, and GHT multi-turn gearboxes extend the torque range up to 120,000 Nm. PROFOX is the compact actuator line. Special items include the seawater-resistant SGM and SGMR part-turn actuators with bronze housings, the SVC and SVCR globe valve actuators and the FQM fail-safe unit. Integral controls come as AM or AC versions.
