Honeywell Chadwick-Helmuth 8500C Rotor Track and Balance Analyzer
Description
Overview
The Honeywell Chadwick-Helmuth 8500C is a digital computer and FFT analyzer used for rotor and fixed wing propeller track and balance, helicopter and fixed wing vibration surveys, and vibration and trend analysis. The instrument acquires vibration and tachometer data during the aircraft run, computes the balance solution, and guides the operator through the correction procedure. It uses a bright, backlit display, an integral printer, built-in help and Smart Chart technology, so both trainees and experienced dynamics engineers can reach the correct maintenance decision. The 8500C is part of the Chadwick-Helmuth family of portable vibration analyzers supported by Diagnostic Solutions International.
The 8500C acquisition follows the standard track and balance sequence: the operator enters the rotor and blade configuration, acquires the vibration data with the tachometer reference, records the blade track readings and lets the computer resolve the correction plan. The FFT analysis resolves the vibration signal into the rotor speed component and the harmonics, which identifies the source of the measured level. The unit memory keeps the survey data for trend analysis, and the report is printed at the aircraft with the integral printer.
Engineering and Design
The analyzer performs the classic track and balance procedure: the rotor track data is entered from the blade markers observed during the run, the vibration sensor signal is recorded with the tachometer reference, and the computer resolves the readings into a correction plan. The integral printer produces the balance report and the blade adjustment data directly at the aircraft, and the built-in help explains each step on the display. Smart Chart technology replaces the traditional paper charts with the stored factory charts for the aircraft type.
For vibration surveys, the 8500C records amplitude and phase over the operating speed range and stores the data for trend analysis, so the crew can compare the current survey with the previous ones and detect a developing fault before it affects availability. The unit is supplied as a carry-on kit with sensors, cables and mounting hardware, and the same platform is shared with the Vibrex 2000 line, which simplifies operator training across the fleet.
The 8500C is prepared for the aircraft type before the run by entering the rotor configuration, the sensor channel and the tachometer reference. During the run-up the operator observes the blade markers and enters the track data, while the analyzer records the vibration amplitude and phase at the rotor speed. The computer resolves the readings into the correction plan and the integral printer issues the balance report at the aircraft. For vibration surveys the same acquisition routine records the response over the operating speed range, and the stored data are compared with the previous surveys to detect developing faults. The Smart Chart technology keeps the factory charts for the aircraft type inside the unit, so the operator does not carry paper charts to the flight line. The analyzer is supported by the Chadwick-Helmuth calibration and repair service, which also supplies the spare parts for the sensor set and the accessories.

Why Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies Honeywell Chadwick-Helmuth 8500C analyzers and accessories to aviation maintenance organisations across Oman and the GCC. Every part number is checked before your order is confirmed, and our team verifies the kit configuration, sensor set and accessories for your aircraft type. Unlike the general-purpose Vibrex 2000, the 8500C is specifically built for rotor track and balance work, so before quoting a system we confirm which photocell, sensor, and cable configuration matches your specific helicopter type, since a track and balance system configured for one rotor type is not automatically compatible with another without the correct accessory set.
For MRO facilities and operators managing multiple helicopter types across their fleet, we help plan photocell and accessory stock around scheduled track and balance procedures, so a worn or damaged sensor does not delay a procedure that is already on the maintenance calendar. Our team is also familiar with the Smart Chart analysis workflow the 8500C uses and can advise on calibration and repair support through the Chadwick-Helmuth service channel when your unit needs it, rather than leaving your team to navigate that process alone when a unit genuinely needs factory calibration or repair attention rather than a simple field fix your own technicians can already handle on the hangar floor without needing to call in outside help for a routine matter.

About brand
Chadwick-Helmuth is the name behind the rotor track and balance equipment used on helicopters and propeller aircraft: balancers, vibration analyzers and the tracking accessories that go with them. Units carry either Chadwick-Helmuth or Honeywell on the nameplate. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists the 8500C and 8500C Plus balancer and analyzer, Vibrex accessories and related parts.
Chadwick-Helmuth equipment listed here
The listings fall into two groups. The first is the instruments themselves: the 8500C rotor track and balance analyzer and the 8500C Plus balancer. A Model 11/11A/11B unit is also listed; reseller literature shows this designation both for a balancer and for the calibrator units used to check Vibrex and Strobex equipment, so the part number must be confirmed. The second is what a maintenance crew needs around them:
- Photocell system for the 8500C
- Printer assembly for the 8500C and Vibrex
- Mounting brackets for the 8500C and Vibrex
- Protractor used as a blade tracking accessory
A balancing kit is assembled per aircraft type, so brackets, cables and sensors are selected for the airframe as well as for the analyzer.
Where the equipment is used
Rotor track and balance is routine maintenance for helicopter operators: measuring vibration at the rotor frequency, checking blade track, and adjusting weights, pitch links or tabs until the readings fall within the maintenance manual limits. Propeller balancing on fixed wing aircraft follows the same principle.
Ordering Chadwick-Helmuth parts: what we need
Send the part number and description from the kit list or the label, the analyzer model (8500C, 8500C Plus, Vibrex or Model 11 series) and its serial number. Name the aircraft type the kit is used on, since brackets and cables are airframe specific. If the part number has been superseded, we ask for the manufacturer's current replacement and show you both numbers before you decide.

Fixed gas and flame detection takes up the largest share of our Honeywell listing: Searchline Excel open path detectors, Sensepoint XCD and XRL point detectors, the XNX transmitter and the FS24X Plus flame detector. Honeywell, which dates from 1906 and is headquartered in Charlotte, USA, also makes SmartLine pressure transmitters and VersaFlow flowmeters for process plants.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier of Honeywell gas detectors, replacement sensors, transmitters and controller parts for sites in Oman and the GCC.
Honeywell product families on this page
Open path infrared detection is represented by the Searchline Excel and the newer Searchline Excel Plus. Point detection includes the Sensepoint XCD in flammable and toxic versions, for example the SPXCDALMG1 hydrogen detector, the Sensepoint XRL and the XNX universal transmitter. The FS24X Plus is a triple infrared flame detector. Replacement cells such as the SR-X2V oxygen sensor and the SR-W-MP75C MICROpeL combustible sensor are also listed. Process instruments include SmartLine STG700 and STG800 gauge pressure transmitters, the STR82D remote seal transmitter and the VersaFlow Coriolis mass flow meter. Recorder consumables such as chart pens are also sourced.
Where Honeywell detectors and transmitters are used
Gas and flame detectors guard wellheads, compressor stations, tank farms, loading bays, process units and utility buildings, and report to the fire and gas system. Open path units watch plant boundaries and long pipe racks. SmartLine transmitters and VersaFlow meters measure pressure and flow in refining, gas processing, chemicals and power.
Ordering Honeywell gas detection parts: what we need
Send the full part number from the label, such as SPXCDALMG1 or 02104-N-XSSA, and the serial number. For gas detectors state the target gas and measuring span, housing material, cable entry thread, output (4-20 mA, relays, Modbus) and the approval required. For replacement sensors name the detector model they go into. For SmartLine transmitters send the complete model selection string.
