AUMA SEVEN Variable-Speed Multi-Turn Actuator Range
Description
AUMA SEVEN variable-speed multi-turn actuator range
The AUMA SEVEN is a variable-speed electric multi-turn actuator that uses a frequency converter designed specifically for actuator duty. With a torque range of 9 Nm to 4,000 Nm and output speeds from 1.25 to 160 rpm, SEVEN covers small control valves up to large gate and globe valves. It is available in three electronic variants, ECOTRON, PROFITRON and HiMod, which share the same mechanical concept but differ in the control class and user interface. Seven Star LLC supplies AUMA actuators in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
The manufacturer lists several benefits of a purpose-built frequency converter: speed is variable, the actuator is insensitive to voltage and frequency variations, there is no current increase during motor start-up, and the end positions are approached softly to protect the valve.

Principle of the SEVEN variable-speed drive
A conventional multi-turn actuator runs its motor at line frequency, so the closing time is fixed by the gearing. In the SEVEN the frequency converter changes motor speed electronically. That gives the user an adjustable travel time, a gentle ramp in and out of the end positions and no inrush current peak on start. In modulating duty the speed can be reduced as the valve approaches the setpoint, which improves positioning accuracy; this is the reason class D continuous modulating duty is offered for the HiMod version.
Selection checklist for SEVEN
- Valve torque range and the modulating torque band within 15 Nm to 2,000 Nm
- Control class needed: on/off, inching, modulating or continuous modulating (class D)
- Operating time and the speed window between 1.25 and 160 rpm
- Interface to the DCS: binary, Profibus, Modbus or HART
- Supply voltage and expected voltage or frequency fluctuation
- Site temperature between -20 °C and +60 °C and corrosivity C5
- Valve attachment standard (ISO or DIN) and stem type
Installation and commissioning of SEVEN
The three electronic variants are commissioned through the Drive Controller on the device or by PC with COM-SIPOS over USB. PROFITRON and HiMod add Bluetooth, which lets a technician connect without opening the housing, and the HiMod design preserves its enclosure protection during parametrisation. End positions and torque switch-off values should be verified under the first valve stroke with the handwheel before motor operation. Keep commissioning parameter sets with the equipment record to speed up later replacement.
SEVEN applications in Oman and the GCC
Variable-speed actuators are chosen for dosing lines, pump discharge valves where water hammer is a risk and control valves that need smooth, accurate movement. In desalination plants, power stations and water transmission systems across Oman and the GCC, the soft start and stop and the tolerance to supply fluctuations are valuable. The C5 corrosion protection and IP68 or IP67 sealing suit coastal and dusty locations.
Fixed-speed or variable-speed: how to decide
Many valves are perfectly well served by a standard fixed-speed multi-turn actuator such as the SA or SAR series. Variable speed becomes attractive when closing time is process-critical, when pipelines are sensitive to surge, when the supply is weak or unstable, or when modulating accuracy matters. The frequency converter also removes the heavy start-up current of a direct-on-line motor, which helps on generators and small supplies. In return, the electronics add components that should be considered in the spare-parts plan, so the choice should be made deliberately against the real duty rather than by default.
Within SEVEN itself, ECOTRON is the straightforward on/off and modulating choice, PROFITRON adds a richer interface for plants that want more parameters and wireless service access, and HiMod is chosen when continuous, precise positioning in class D is the main task. Related AUMA variable-speed families already on this site include SAV, SARV, SAVEx and SARVEx.
Also confirm that the operating time you need is reachable with the torque you need: torque, speed and valve stroke are linked in the final selection, and the manufacturer order data confirm the combination.

Documents and quotation
Send the part number SEVEN, the application and the quantity, and Seven Star LLC will confirm which official documents are available for your configuration. Please do not rely on a general description alone: the order data, wiring diagram number and explosion-protection marking of the delivered unit are what count for engineering and commissioning.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat serving customers across Oman and the GCC. Quotations are prepared against your enquiry data and are confirmed individually.

About brand
AUMA builds electric actuators for industrial valves, gates and dampers. The company was founded in 1964 near Stuttgart by Werner Riester and Rudolf Dinse, moved its headquarters to Müllheim in south-west Germany in the early 1970s, and still trades as the owner-managed AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG. Its actuators run isolation and control valves in water, power, oil and gas and process plants worldwide.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA multi-turn and part-turn actuators, actuator controls, gearboxes and spare parts for buyers in Oman and the GCC. We work from the nameplate data so that a replacement matches the installed actuator, controls and gearbox.
AUMA company profile
| Origin | Founded in 1964 by Werner Riester (engineering) and Rudolf Dinse (sales and finance); registered as Riester KG in Esslingen. Water and wastewater plants were the first customers. |
|---|---|
| Headquarters | Müllheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (since the early 1970s). Production in Germany, with further plants in India, the USA and China, and around 30 sales and service companies worldwide. |
| Ownership | Privately held, owner-managed company: AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG |
| Torque and thrust range | Multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators from 1.5 Nm to 675,000 Nm with gearboxes, and linear thrust up to 217 kN, as published by AUMA |
| Design principle | Modular: actuator, integral controls and gearbox are combined to suit the valve, so one actuator size can serve open-close, modulating, fieldbus or explosion-proof duty |
Milestones
- 1964: Werner Riester and Rudolf Dinse found AUMA near Stuttgart; the first actuator range follows, with water and sewage plants as the first customers.
- Early 1970s: Lack of space in Nellingen leads to the move to Müllheim in south-west Germany.
- 1974: AUMA Benelux, the first foreign subsidiary, is founded.
- Today: About 2,800 employees worldwide, around 850 of them in Müllheim, according to AUMA.

Where AUMA actuators are used
Water transmission and treatment is the largest use: pipeline isolation valves, pumping stations, desalination plants and sluice gates. AUMA actuators also run valves in power plant steam, feedwater and cooling systems, pipelines and tank farms, refineries and chemical plants, and on ships and offshore platforms. In the Gulf, check the ambient temperature rating, since actuators in direct sun can exceed 50 °C, and specify the enclosure protection for sand and humidity.
Ordering AUMA actuators and spare parts: what we need
For a replacement, send photos of the actuator, motor and controls nameplates: type designation, commission or order number, serial number and wiring diagram number. AUMA identifies the original build from the commission number. For a new actuator, add the valve type, required torque or thrust at the worst case, number of turns or swing angle, operating time, mounting flange to ISO 5210 or ISO 5211, stem or shaft dimensions, duty (open-close or modulating), supply voltage and frequency, control signals or fieldbus, and the hazardous-area marking required on site.
