JUMO ecoTRANS pH 03 DIN-Rail pH and Redox Transmitter

Description

A compact pH and redox transmitter that lives in the control cabinet

The JUMO ecoTRANS pH 03 (type 202723) is a 22.5 mm class DIN-rail transmitter and switching device for pH, redox voltage and temperature. It takes a combination electrode, a glass or metal electrode with a separate reference electrode (including isolated reference types) or an antimony electrode, and a Pt100 or Pt1000 for temperature compensation. It produces up to two galvanically isolated analog outputs and one changeover relay, and a 2-line LCD with front keys handles configuration; a PC setup program can save, print and clone the configuration to several units. Each device is delivered with a calibration certificate that documents its device and calibration data. The datasheet cites general water and wastewater, drinking and process water, surface water, seawater, swimming pools, well water and aquariums as typical uses.

Order code and options

The code is 202723/ output I – output II – output III / extra code. Output I, for pH or redox, is always 888, a freely programmable analog output. Output II, temperature, is either 000 (none) or 888 (analog). Output III is either 000 or 101, one changeover relay. Extra code 000 is none and 024 includes the PC setup software. The datasheet example is 202723/888-888-101/024. Stock versions ship in three working days: the pH-only unit with one analog output (part 20/00508665), the unit with two analog outputs and one relay (20/00508663) and the same with software (20/00508664). Accessories include the setup software (20/00513893), a USB interface cable (70/00456352), a pH simulator and its connection cable, and a DIN-rail switching power supply of type PS5R-A24 (20/00374661). One printed datasheet detail to note: the sheet is dated 2008, so operating-system notes for the PC software are historical and should be confirmed with the manufacturer.

Using it in a plant

Because the transmitter carries no display housing for field use, it belongs in a cabinet with the electrode cable kept short and screened; the datasheet shows reference and glass-electrode terminals plus a liquid-potential terminal that is used only in symmetric connection. A typical loop is a dosing-pump controller that reads the isolated analog output, with the relay used for a high or low pH alarm window. Typical Gulf applications include neutralisation of cooling-tower blowdown, desalination post-treatment, swimming-pool dosing and effluent monitoring. For an integrated field unit with display see the published dTRANS pH 02, and for matching electrodes the JUMO pH glass electrode. Related equipment sits in the liquid analytical systems category.

For an enquiry please state whether the loop measures pH or redox, which electrode types are installed, how long the cable runs, and whether the temperature compensation is done with a Pt100 or Pt1000 two-wire probe. Mention the required output signal and the alarm logic wanted on the relay, such as a limit, a window or a deviation alarm. The module is powered from 20 to 30 V DC in a SELV or PELV circuit and weighs about 150 g and snaps onto a 35 mm rail. Three stock versions exist, and extra code 024 adds the PC setup software.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
