MONITEK™ Turbidity, Suspended Solids & Color Monitors

Description

Overview

The MONITEK™ Turbidity, Suspended Solids & Color Monitor delivers rugged, reliable, real-time results to optimize processes and assure consistent quality and regulatory compliance, whether brewing beer, optimizing critical pharmaceutical-manufacturing processes, or monitoring industrial wastewater for contamination. Galvanic’s Monitek optical-technology-based turbidity, suspended solids, and color monitors deliver the highest performance-to-cost ratio of any in-line liquid process monitor on the market today.

As an authorized supplier of Galvanic instrumentation, Seven Star LLC proudly offers the MONITEK™ to food and beverage producers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and wastewater treatment facilities across the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, and the wider GCC. Unlike most turbidity, concentration, and color monitors, which can handle only one probe at a time, Monitek’s universal messenger controller handles up to four discrete inputs, each individually controllable to monitor different streams or parameters.

Measurement Principle

The MONITEK™ system offers a range of sensor types tailored to specific optical measurement needs. The MoniSpec TSS sensor uses single-wavelength absorbance to measure total suspended solids, turbidity, and concentration, while the MoniTurb Color sensor uses dual-wavelength absorbance for color measurement. The MoniTurb family of turbidity sensors offers 12° forward-scattered light (MoniTurb F), 90° side-scattered light (MoniTurb S), or combined 12° and 90° scattered light (MoniTurb FS) detection methods.

All sensors use hermetically sealed silicon photodiode detectors operating across a 390-850nm detection range, achieving ±2% of full scale accuracy and linearity with ±1% repeatability, and a calibration interval of 12 months. Response time across the sensor family is under 1 second, giving process operators near-instantaneous visibility into optical quality parameters.

Engineering Design of the MONITEK™

The MONITEK™ two-component system includes modular, fit-for-purpose in-line sensors alongside submersible, insertion, and cell-density probes, all pairing with a messenger controller. The Messenger LD and Messenger PC controllers feature an intuitive multi-language graphical interface, with setup via laptop PC or touchscreen depending on model, plus automated cleaning cycles to reduce manual maintenance.

Sensor construction uses 316L stainless steel as standard (with Hastelloy C and TFMC available), sapphire optical windows, and process connections including DIN, ANSI, NPT, TH, and Tri-Clamp. Sensors accommodate line sizes from 10-100mm (1/2″-4″), process pressure up to 15 bar (220 psi), and process temperature up to 140°C (284°F), with optical pathlengths from 1mm to 500mm depending on application.

Key Features

The MONITEK™ combines multi-sensor flexibility with optical measurement precision. Core capabilities include:

  • Universal messenger controller handling up to 4 independent sensor inputs simultaneously.
  • MoniSpec TSS, MoniTurb Color, and MoniTurb F/S/FS turbidity sensor options.
  • ±1-2% of full scale accuracy across the sensor and controller family.
  • Response time under 1 second with a 12-month calibration interval.
  • Automated cleaning cycles and optional cleaning jets/air purge reducing maintenance.
  • Multi-language graphical interface with laptop PC or touchscreen setup.
  • Line sizes from 10-100mm with DIN, ANSI, NPT, TH, and Tri-Clamp process connections.
  • Hazardous area certification up to CSA Class 1, Div. 1 & 2 and ATEX Zone 1/2.

Industrial Applications

The MONITEK™ is well suited to food and beverage production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and industrial wastewater treatment across Oman, where consistent turbidity, TSS, and color monitoring directly affects product quality and regulatory compliance. Its multi-input messenger controller makes it economical for facilities monitoring multiple process streams or parameters from a single control point.

As an authorized supplier of Galvanic instrumentation, Seven Star LLC supports food and beverage producers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and wastewater treatment operators throughout the Sohar and Salalah economic zones and the broader GCC region with the MONITEK™’s optical process monitoring capability.
