Böhler FOX DCMS Kb E8018-B2 1.25Cr-0.5Mo Electrode
Description
E8018-B2 electrode for 1.25Cr-0.5Mo boiler, plate and tube steel
The Böhler FOX DCMS Kb is a basic low-hydrogen electrode for 1 % Cr, 0.5 % Mo alloyed boiler, plate and tube steels, classified AWS A5.5 E8018-B2 H4 and EN ISO 3580-A E CrMo1 B 4 2 H5. Böhler Welding approves it for long-term exposure up to 1380 °F service temperature and describes a fully alloyed core wire that gives reliable creep rupture properties for the whole service life of a boiler plant. The data sheet adds high ductility and crack resistance, a heat-treatable deposit, hydrogen below 4 ml per 100 g, metal recovery of about 115 %, suitability for step-cooling applications and a Bruscato figure under 15 ppm.

Parent steels it is used on
Böhler lists creep-resistant steels and similarly alloyed cast steels, case-hardening and nitriding steels of similar composition, heat-treatable steels up to 113 ksi tensile strength and steels resistant to caustic cracking, for example 13CrMo4-5, 15CrMo5, 16CrMoV4, 25CrMo4, 42CrMo4, G22CrMo5-4 and G17CrMo5-5, and ASTM A 182 F12, A 213 T12, A 217 WC6, A 234 WP11, A 335 P11 and P12, A 336 F11 and F12, and A 426 CP12. It is the electrode behind many 1.25Cr-0.5Mo steam-line and header repairs. When the base metal is 2.25Cr-1Mo, use the
instead; mixed joints between the two grades follow the welding procedure and code, not the data sheet.| Related Böhler Welding electrode | Classification (AWS A5.1 / A5.5 / A5.4) | Typical use |

Tempering and ordering notes
Quote the preheat and interpass range from the procedure for the wall thickness, and plan the tempering after welding as shown above only if the specification agrees. For enquiries give the diameter and length in inches or millimetres, pack type, quantity, and whether step-cooling or trace-element certificates are required.
Documents and quotation
You can download the FOX DCMS Kb data sheet from this page to check each value against your procedure. Browse welding electrodes for neighbouring items. To request a price, tell us the diameter, how it should be packed, how much you need, the parent metal and any certificate wording.

About brand
Böhler Welding is the welding consumables brand of voestalpine Böhler Welding, part of the voestalpine group, with a portfolio that covers stick electrodes, TIG rods, solid wires, gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored wires and submerged-arc wires and fluxes. The company states more than 100 years of experience. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Böhler Welding consumables and welding machines, including pipeline electrodes, and sources Böhler Welding consumables for fabricators and pipeline contractors.
Böhler Welding product groups
Beyond the consumables above, Böhler Welding lists strip cladding, wire arc additive manufacturing, metal powders, arc spraying cored wires, ceramic weld backing, brazing consumables and welding automation such as orbital welding and collaborative robots. The pipeline range includes cellulosic FOX CEL electrodes and basic vertical-down FOX BVD electrodes for large-diameter line pipe.
Ordering Böhler Welding consumables: what we need
Give the product name, the AWS or EN classification, the diameter and length, and the packaging you need. For pipeline electrodes also state the pipe grade, wall thickness, welding position and whether sour-service test values are required, because the Böhler Welding data sheets note that some test values are available on request.
