Brand:

Kjellberg FINOX 182 ENiCrFe-3 Nickel-Base Stick Electrode

Description

Nickel-base electrode for dissimilar and crack-sensitive joints

The Kjellberg FINOX 182 is a basic-coated nickel-base stick electrode for high-quality, crack-resistant joint welding and plating on nickel-chromium-iron alloys, heat-resistant chromium and chromium-nickel steels and nickel-alloyed cold-tough pressure vessel steels. Kjellberg also names austenite-ferrite joints, for example 1.4583 with 16Mo3. The fully austenitic weld metal is described as chemically stable, cold-tough, heat-resistant, scale-resistant up to 1,000 degrees C and resistant against embrittlement.

Where this alloy is used

The data sheet lists base materials 1.4876 (X10NiCrAlTi32-21) and 2.4816 (NiCr15Fe) among the nickel alloys it welds. Typical uses are joints between austenitic and ferritic steels, buffering layers on difficult base materials and repair welds on heat-resistant components. Kjellberg gives a usable working temperature of -196 to 800 degrees C, but only up to 500 degrees C where the atmosphere contains sulphur, because nickel alloys can be attacked by sulphur at high temperature.

Welding notes

Whether preheating is required depends on the base material, as the data sheet notes. Nickel-base weld metal is sluggish, so clean the joint thoroughly, keep the arc short and avoid wide weaving. Redry the electrodes at 150 to 200 degrees C for two hours as listed.

About brand

Kjellberg Finsterwalde is a German manufacturer of plasma cutting systems, welding technology and welding electrodes, based in Finsterwalde. The company traces its history to Oscar Kjellberg, who obtained the 1908 German patent for the coated welding electrode, and it has operated in Finsterwalde since 1922. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Kjellberg CUTFIRE air plasma cutting systems and sources Kjellberg equipment for fabricators and workshops.

Kjellberg product groups

The cutting range runs from mobile CUTFIRE air plasma units for hand-held and mechanised work to automated systems such as HiFocus, Smart Focus and the iQ and Q series, with KjellCut torches and the Q-Torch automatic torch-change system. On the welding side Kjellberg lists coated electrodes for unalloyed, high-temperature, stainless, nickel-base, cast iron, underwater and surfacing work, plus submerged-arc and TIG welding technology.

Ordering Kjellberg equipment: what we need

Give the model name, the mains voltage and frequency, the material and thickness to be cut, and whether the system will be used hand-held or on a cutting table. For plasma systems also state the torch hose length and whether a CNC interface is needed.
