Overview

The MEDC BGEB4B6B1DDCF7R is an explosion-proof break-glass manual alarm call point from the MEDC BG manual call point range, part of the Eaton Crouse-Hinds series. It is used to raise fire or emergency alarms by hand in hazardous areas, both onshore and offshore. The enclosure is corrosion-free glass reinforced polyester. The break glass is covered by a membrane that protects the operator from glass fragments, so no hammer is needed to operate it.

Using the Eaton ordering table, BGEB4B6B1DDCF7R breaks down as follows. BG is the model. EB is ATEX/CENELEC Ex de certification. 4B6B gives the cable entries: B means M20 and the digits are the entry positions, so there are M20 entries at positions 4 and 6, both on the bottom face. Label code 1 is the glass label with fire break-glass wording. The first D is the DC voltage version and the second D is a double changeover switch. Because resistors are fitted, the ambient range narrows from -40 to +70 °C (switch only) to -25 to +50 °C. Resistor versions are offered up to 24 V only and the resistor is rated 24 V DC, 0.05 A, with a minimum value of 100 Ω for BGE units. The resistor value is not encoded in the part number and has to be specified with the order. The 250 V AC switch rating applies to switch-only versions and is not usable on this resistor-fitted DC configuration.

Finishes other than red are natural black, blue, yellow, grey and yellow/black stripes.
