Danfoss 180B1008 PAHT G 12.5 Ultra-Pure Water Pump
Description
Danfoss 180B1008 PAHT G 12.5 ultra-pure water pump
The Danfoss 180B1008 is the PAHT G 12.5, a coated water-lubricated axial piston pump that is intended for technical water: ultra-pure water produced by repeated reverse osmosis, de-ionised water and demineralised water. It displaces 12.5 cm³ per revolution, works up to 140 bar g, weighs 7.7 kg and has an AISI 304 housing with NBR seals. The G in the designation indicates the extra coatings that reduce wear on the sliding parts, which is the issue that makes ultra-pure water difficult for ordinary pumps, and it is the reason the PAHT G range is the common choice for gas turbine fogging and fuel-wash skids. Seven Star LLC supplies the 180B1008 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
The pump belongs to the PAHT G 2 to 12.5 group, whose sizes share a body, so the 180B1008 is physically identical in envelope to the PAHT G 10 but with 25 percent more displacement.

What the coating changes in practice
Ultra-pure water is aggressive for sliding metal pairs because it has almost no dissolved salts to help form a protective film and no lubricating properties. A standard PAH water pump is designed for tap water; the PAHT G range uses extra coatings to reduce wear in this condition. As a result the minimum continuous speed is higher (1000 rpm rather than the 700 rpm of the tap-water PAH pumps) and the maximum outlet pressure of the 12.5 size is 140 bar rather than 160 bar. The inlet is also limited to 4 bar g, with a very specific peak definition, so a transfer pump upstream should be selected with that limit in mind.
Flow is proportional to speed: 12.5 cm³ × 1500 rpm is 18.75 l/min theoretical, and the data sheet figure at maximum pressure is 16.5 l/min, an internal leakage of about 12 percent, higher than in tap-water pumps because ultra-pure water is thinner and more clearance is lost. Designers should size the delivery from the data sheet value rather than displacement alone.
180B1008 in the PAHT G 2 to 12.5 group
| Size | Code | Displacement cm³/rev | Max outlet bar g | Flow l/min at 1000 / 1500 rpm | Motor kW |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PAHT G 2 | 180B1003 | 2 | 100 | 0.7 / 1.7 | 0.75 |
| PAHT G 3.2 | 180B1004 | 3.2 | 100 | 2.0 / 3.6 | 1.1 |
| PAHT G 4 | 180B1005 | 4 | 100 | 3.0 / 5.0 | 1.5 |
| PAHT G 6.3 | 180B1006 | 6.3 | 100 | 5.5 / 8.6 | 2.2 |
| PAHT G 10 | 180B1007 | 10 | 140 | 7.6 / 12.6 | 4.0 |
| PAHT G 12.5 | 180B1008 | 12.5 | 140 | 10.2 / 16.5 | 5.5 |
Above this group the PAHT G 20 to 32 and PAHT G 50 to 90 sizes, and larger up to PAHT G 308, cover higher flows. The tap-water equivalents such as PAH 25 (180B0036) are listed separately.
Selection and ordering checklist for PAHT G 12.5
- Water type: ultra-pure RO permeate, de-ionised or demineralised water, not seawater.
- Required flow, working pressure up to 140 bar g, and turndown, remembering the 1000 rpm minimum speed.
- Inlet pressure not above 4 bar g; check any boost pump and tank head.
- Whether the pump will run in a hazardous area (ATEX 180B6133) or needs API documentation, which the manufacturer offers on request.
- Motor and drive details, bell housing and coupling.
- Reservoir, filtration (10 µm absolute, beta 5000) and the monitoring switches.
Installation and commissioning
The manufacturer describes both open and closed system layouts. In a closed system the filter sits in front of the tank; a pressure switch set at 2 bar g maximum inlet pressure signals a blocked filter, a temperature switch in the tank stops the pump above the temperature limit, flexible hoses reduce vibration, and a non-return valve and pressure relief valve protect against backspin and over-pressure. A minimum level switch above the reservoir outlet prevents dry running, and a filling valve ensures that new water is always filtered. Use dampers on the frame and avoid rigid pipe connections to reduce noise. Under the specified conditions service intervals of up to 8000 hours can be expected.
Applications for the 180B1008 in Oman and the GCC
Gas turbine inlet fogging and fuel wash systems at power and industrial plants, NOx reduction injection, adiabatic cooling of server rooms and factories, humidification and dust-suppression systems, and high-pressure cleaning with ultra-pure water in electronics manufacturing all appear on the manufacturer application list. In Oman the gas turbine fogging application is the most relevant because high ambient temperatures reduce turbine output and fogging recovers part of it; the pump must therefore be rated for tank temperatures that can rise in summer, within the 50 °C media limit.

About brand
Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

- 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
- 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
- 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
- 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.
Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
Where Danfoss products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.
