Danfoss 180B0036 PAH 25 High-Pressure Water Pump
Description
Danfoss 180B0036 PAH 25 high-pressure water pump
The Danfoss 180B0036 is the PAH 25, a water-lubricated axial piston pump for clean tap water at pressures up to 160 bar. It is one of the PAH 20/25/32 sizes, with 25 cm³ displacement per revolution, an AISI 304 stainless housing, NBR seals and a dry weight of 16 kg. Because the pump moves water with no oil in the circuit, it is used for humidification, high-pressure cleaning and flushing, fire-fighting mist systems and other water-hydraulic duties where oil contamination is not acceptable. Seven Star LLC supplies the 180B0036 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
The PAH 25 sits between the small PAH 2 to 12.5 pumps and the large PAH 50 to 100 pumps. Its outlet connection is G 3/4 and its inlet is G 1 1/4, which keeps hose and fitting sizes moderate while still giving 35 l/min at 1500 rpm.

How the PAH 25 turns shaft power into water pressure
Each of the pistons in the rotating cylinder barrel is pushed in and out by a fixed swash plate, drawing water on the suction stroke and delivering it on the pressure stroke. The pump begins to build pressure the moment it turns, regardless of the counter pressure in the system. The manufacturer data sheet therefore insists on a pressure relief valve in the outlet, and a non-return valve to stop backspin when the system stops.
The data sheet gives the required motor power as P = n × V × p / (600 000 × η) with an efficiency of 0.95 for the PAH 20 to 100 sizes. For the 180B0036 at 1500 rpm and 160 bar that is 1500 × 25 × 160 / (600 000 × 0.95), about 10.5 kW, consistent with the 10.8 kW typical motor size. Torque follows M = V × p / (62.8 × η), roughly 67 Nm, matching the 68.5 Nm in the table. The same calculation at a lower working pressure shows how much motor power can be saved on duties that do not need 160 bar.
180B0036 within the PAH range
The PAH family begins with PAH 2, 4 and 6.3 (180B0024, 180B0022, 180B0023), continues through PAH 10 and 12.5 (180B0008, 180B0007) and the PAH 20, 25 and 32 group (180B0079, 180B0036, 180B0037), and ends with PAH 50 to 100 (for example 180B0047, 180B0040, 180B0042, 180B0041, 180B0076). Within the middle group the PAH 20 is rated only to 80 bar, whereas the PAH 25 and PAH 32 are rated to 160 bar, so the PAH 25 is the smallest 160 bar pump of the three. A related range, PAHT G (for example 180B1008), is built for ultra-pure and de-ionised water and is a separate selection.
Selection and ordering checklist for PAH 25
- Duty flow at the working pressure, compared with the 22.5 and 35.2 l/min figures at 1000 and 1500 rpm.
- Maximum operating pressure up to 160 bar g and the lowest pressure the application will see; the minimum outlet pressure is 30 bar g.
- Water quality: the pump is designed for clean tap water, with 10 µm absolute filtration ahead of it.
- Water temperature in the tank, kept within 2 to 50 °C by a monitoring temperature switch.
- Motor frame, speed and drive; confirm both power and torque.
- ATEX version 180B6136 if the pump will be installed in a classified zone.
Installation, filtration and service
In an open system with a reservoir, the manufacturer shows a filter ahead of the tank, a monitoring pressure switch set at 2 bar g maximum inlet pressure to signal a blocked element, a temperature switch in the tank, a minimum level switch above the reservoir outlet and a filling valve so that new water is always filtered. Flexible hoses on inlet and outlet reduce noise, and the pump must be mounted on dampers with a flexible coupling and bell housing. The data sheet states plainly that poor filtration is the number one cause of pump damage. Under the specified conditions the pump typically runs 8000 hours between services; pistons and shaft seals are the usual wear parts.
Applications for the 180B0036 in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the GCC the PAH 25 appears in humidification and water-mist systems for workshops and halls, high-pressure washing of heat exchangers and heat-recovery boilers at power and desalination plants, dust suppression, fire-fighting water mist skids and humidification at industrial facilities. With ambient temperatures above 45 °C in summer, check the pump and tank water against the 50 °C limit and shade or cool the tank.

About brand
Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

- 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
- 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
- 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
- 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.
Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
Where Danfoss products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

FAQ
Questions about the Danfoss 180B0036 PAH 25 High-Pressure Water Pump
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What pressure range does the Danfoss 180B0036 cover?
The PAH 25 works between 30 bar g minimum and 160 bar g maximum outlet pressure, with inlet pressure of 0 to 4 bar g.
02What flow does the PAH 25 give?
At maximum pressure the data sheet gives 22.5 l/min at 1000 rpm and 35.2 l/min at 1500 rpm, or 11.1 gpm at 1800 rpm.
03What are the pump connections and weight?
Inlet is G 1 1/4, outlet is G 3/4 and the drain is G 1/4, all BSPP. The weight is 16 kg.
04Why is a pressure relief valve required?
The pump starts building pressure immediately regardless of counter pressure, so the manufacturer calls for a relief valve and a non-return valve in the outlet.
05Can the PAH 25 pump ultra-pure water?
No. The PAH range is designed for clean tap water. The PAHT G range is the manufacturer choice for ultra-pure or de-ionised water.
