How do I read the type code on an ABB drive?
The type code on the rating label identifies the exact unit. In ACS355-03E-05A6-4, ACS355 is the product series, 03E the construction (three-phase input with EMC filter), 05A6 the rated output current of 5.6 A and the final 4 the 400 V voltage class. Option codes may follow after a plus sign. Send the complete string so the replacement matches.
What replaces an ABB ACS550 or ACS355 drive that is no longer produced?
ABB publishes a life cycle statement for each drive generation. The ACS550 moved to the obsolete phase at the start of 2025, and ABB names the ACS580 general purpose drive as the series that replaced it. The ACS355 is in the limited phase, with sales being ramped down. Dimensions, wiring and fieldbus options differ between generations, so we check ABB's current replacement guidance against your type code before proposing a model.
What information is needed to replace an ABB flowmeter?
Send the order code and serial number from the nameplate of the sensor and of the transmitter if it is a remote version. Add line size, flange standard and rating, liner and electrode materials, power supply, output signals and any hazardous area marking. With that we can check whether the same model is current or which ABB successor applies.
Which certificates does ABB issue for process instruments?
Depending on the model and what is ordered, ABB supplies a factory calibration certificate, material certificates for wetted parts and the declarations and hazardous area certificates that belong to the device, such as ATEX or IECEx. Special requirements, for example additional calibration points or oxygen cleaning, have to be specified in the inquiry so they are included in the factory order.
