Brand:

JUMO MAERA S26 Hydrostatic Level Probe for Tanks and Wells

Description

A stainless-steel probe for water, grey water and fuel tank levels

The JUMO MAERA S26 (type 402090) is a submersible level probe that measures the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid above it with a piezoresistive silicon cell behind a 316L membrane and returns a signal proportional to level. A vented cable with an integrated pressure-compensation hose automatically cancels barometric changes. Ranges run from 0 to 0.25 bar up to 0 to 10 bar, which corresponds to filling heights between about 2.5 and 100 metres of water column, though JUMO describes typical ventilated-tank use as 2.5 to 25 mWS. Typical fields are storage tanks and reservoirs, grey-water recycling, heating-oil and diesel tanks and the water and wastewater sector; the probe is approved for use in drinking water when the right extra code is chosen. Basic type 023 offers improved linearity of 0.2 % of span in ranges from 0.6 to 2.5 bar.

Configuring the probe

The code is 402090/ basic type – range – output – process connection – material – cable type – cable length / extra code. The datasheet example is 402090/000-454-405-659-20-15-010/000: a 0 to 1 bar probe with two-wire 4 to 20 mA, open connection at the bottom, 316Ti, black PE-LD cable of 10 m. Choose a cable that suits the liquid: PUR for general water, PE-LD for drinking water, FEP for aggressive or fuel media, and EPR for a submersible motor-grade cable. Drinking-water approval (881) requires EPDM sealing and either the PE or EPR cable. Accessories include a terminal box with pressure compensation element (00061206), a cable clamp for 4.8 to 10 mm cables (00753260), a sealing screw with G 1 1/2 thread (00333329) and a pressure-compensation filter (00382632). Always keep the compensation hose unkinked, since a pinched hose stops barometric compensation.

Applications and neighbours in the range

A 10 mWS range suits a 10 m rainwater cistern or a deep tank; a 1.6 to 2.5 bar range suits fuel day tanks and sumps. In hot regions, mount the terminal box above the liquid in shade, because condensation at the end of the compensation hose is the most common fault in vented probes. The S26 is a general-purpose version beside the published MAERA S25 and the titanium MAERA S29 SW for seawater. For a float-type alternative see the NESOS R20 LT, or browse the level instrumentation category for switches and transmitters.

A good enquiry names the water depth or pressure range, the output signal and wiring (2-wire or 3-wire), and the cable length from 5 to 100 m. Please state the cable material, such as PUR, PE-LD, FEP or EPR, according to the medium and the temperature at the cable. Give the sealing material (FPM or EPDM) and any protective cage or open or closed bottom needed for sludge, sewage or clean water. The probe is used vertically or hanging from its cable at a medium temperature of 0 to 50 °C. The improved accuracy type 023 should be requested separately where small level changes matter.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
