Overview

The VEGASWING 61 is a universal level switch for use in all liquids. Independent of the mounting position, it detects reliably with millimetre accuracy the limit level. The instrument can be used as empty or full detector, as approved overfill protection, dry run protection, or pump protection in vessels and pipelines, covering the majority of point-level safety functions a plant needs from a single switch design.

Measurement Principle

The VEGASWING 61 uses a compact tuning fork that vibrates at its mechanical resonance frequency. When the fork becomes immersed in liquid, its resonance frequency shifts detectably, and the integrated electronics evaluates this change to output a direct switching signal. Because the switching point is determined purely by the mechanical properties of the fork rather than the electrical properties of the medium, it functions reliably regardless of pressure, temperature, foam, viscosity, or the composition of the liquid, which is exactly why it performs reliably where capacitive or conductive switches struggle with coating buildup or low-conductivity media.

As a compact instrument, the VEGASWING 61 can be operated without any external evaluation system—the switching signal can directly operate a connected device such as a warning light, pump, or valve. Setup requires minimal time and cost expenditure since no calibration with the actual process medium is necessary, and the instrument can be installed in virtually any orientation as long as the fork remains unobstructed, giving mechanical designers real flexibility on nozzle placement.

Wetted parts are available in PFA, 316L, Alloy C22, Alloy 400, ECTFE, or enamel, with an extensive range of hygienic fitting options including Clamp, Slotted Nut, Varivent, F40 compression nut, SMS, and DIN 11864-1-A/2-A connections for sanitary applications.

Housing options include plastic, aluminium, and stainless steel (precision cast or electropolished) construction, with protection ratings up to IP66/IP68 (1 bar). Output options span relay (DPDT), contactless electronic switch, transistor (NPN/PNP), two-wire, and NAMUR signal types, with the pluggable PLICSLED display module providing local status indication.
