C-TEC CA470 CAST Addressable Manual Call Point
Description
The C-TEC CA470 is a CAST addressable manual call point for fire alarm loops. It is part of the CA470 range, certified for the red CA470 to EN54-11 (manual call points) and EN54-17 (short-circuit isolators), and is compatible with C-TEC’s CAST ZFP and XFP panels and other CAST-compatible fire panels. It is operated by pressing anywhere in the target area, which triggers a signal to the panel, lights a red alarm ring LED on the face and shows a reflective yellow and black striped indicator in the operating window.

Operation, reset and variants
The photoluminescent operating window remains visible for up to five minutes in poor lighting. The call point is reset with the combined test and removal key supplied, and because the element is resettable plastic the glass does not need to be replaced after a test or activation. It can be surface or flush mounted, and the range also includes an IP67 version (CA47067) for weatherproof applications as well as yellow, green, blue and white surface-mount versions, all CAST addressable. Optional transparent vandal-resistant hinged covers are available. The device is programmed and addressed from the fire panel or with the CAST handheld programmer (CAPROG), and an on-board bi-directional short-circuit isolator keeps a loop fault contained.
Choosing the right part
Confirm the colour and the environment: the standard CA470 is rated IP42, while only the CA47067 is IP67 and must be wall mounted with its own back box, which has 20 mm gland cable entries. Note that the certificate numbers printed in the instructions apply to the red CA470; for other colours and variants ask for the certificate that applies. Use a flush mounting plate with a single gang box for flush installation, and fit fire rated cable of 0.25 to 2.5 mm2 to the four loop terminals, observing polarity. Check that the panel and the rest of the loop use the CAST protocol, because the call point cannot be mixed onto an Apollo or Hochiki loop. Installation must follow applicable local and national regulations.
Documents and quotation
The linked file is the two-page C-TEC CA470 range installation instruction (DFU4700000 Rev 9, 01/06/2024). Before ordering confirm the exact part number, colour, mounting style, protective cover needs and the approvals required by the project; the C-TEC CP416 CAST-PRO smoke detector and other fire and gas detectors are listed on the site. Milestones
- 1981: Computionics Limited is founded and starts trading as C-TEC.
- 2021: C-TEC marks 40 years as a UK life safety manufacturer.
C-TEC fire alarm families
The manufacturer divides fire systems into conventional and addressable. On the conventional side are the CFP panels in 2 to 8 zones, with ActiV detectors, sounders and call points. On the addressable side, XFP panels cover one or two loops and ZFP panels up to eight, working with C-TEC's own CAST protocol and CAST-PRO devices. Addressable panels are also made for Apollo XP95 and Discovery and for Hochiki ESP devices, so the protocol of a panel must match the detectors on its loop. EN54-4 power supplies, SigTEL refuge systems and EVAC-ALERT panels complete the range.

Ordering C-TEC equipment: what we need
Send the full part number including the suffix after the slash, which separates protocol versions of the same panel. Tell us the detector protocol already on site, the number of loops or zones, and any network or repeater requirement. For projects in the GCC, name the approval the consultant specifies so we request the matching certificates from the manufacturer.
