C-TEC XFP502/CA 2-Loop 32-Zone Addressable Fire Panel

Description

The C-TEC XFP502/CA is a two-loop, 32-zone addressable fire alarm control panel that works with C-TEC’s own CAST protocol. Two loop drivers each support up to 255 CAST devices, which makes it the larger sibling of the single-loop XFP501/CA for medium-sized buildings, workshops, camps, stores and plant buildings. The panel is certified to EN54 parts 2 and 4 by LPCB and, with CAST devices, to EN54 part 13 by Kiwa Telefication.

What the CAST protocol adds

CAST (C-TEC Addressable System Technology) is described by C-TEC as a distributed-intelligence protocol, so field devices take part in decisions as well as the panel. Documented features include a 40 V loop drive voltage, automatic addressing from the panel or manual addressing from a handheld programmer, a replace-device function and location of open and short circuit faults, since a short-circuit isolator is built into every CAST field device. Panel functions include zone dependency and coincidence, a day and night mode, an investigation delay, phased evacuation, earth fault monitoring and a 500-event log.

Selecting and installing the panel

Count the devices and loops first: two loops allow larger buildings or separate loops per floor or block. Check that the detectors, call points and sounders on the project are CAST devices, because this variant is not interchangeable with the Apollo XP95 or Hochiki versions of the XFP, which carry different order suffixes. Plan the cable route and battery size, leave room for the optional network card, and agree cause-and-effect programming with the fire engineer. For a single-loop job see the C-TEC XFP501/CA single-loop addressable fire panel, and for other control equipment browse fire and gas logic controllers.

Documents and quotation

The linked file is the C-TEC XFP CAST addressable fire systems brochure, which presents the CAST protocol, the XFP panels and the compatible detectors, call points, sounders and modules; the full engineering manual is available from C-TEC. Before ordering, confirm the protocol suffix, number of loops, approvals required by the local authority and the approved device list. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, will prepare a quotation from your project requirements.

About brand

C-TEC has made life safety electronics in Wigan, United Kingdom since 1981: fire alarm panels, detectors, power supplies, disabled refuge and call systems. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists C-TEC panels and detectors such as the XFP501/CA single loop addressable fire panel, the CP416 CAST-PRO addressable optical smoke detector and the CFP708-4 eight zone conventional fire alarm panel.

C-TEC fire alarm families

The manufacturer divides fire systems into conventional and addressable. On the conventional side are the CFP panels in 2 to 8 zones, with ActiV detectors, sounders and call points. On the addressable side, XFP panels cover one or two loops and ZFP panels up to eight, working with C-TEC's own CAST protocol and CAST-PRO devices. Addressable panels are also made for Apollo XP95 and Discovery and for Hochiki ESP devices, so the protocol of a panel must match the detectors on its loop. EN54-4 power supplies, SigTEL refuge systems and EVAC-ALERT panels complete the range.

Ordering C-TEC equipment: what we need

Send the full part number including the suffix after the slash, which separates protocol versions of the same panel. Tell us the detector protocol already on site, the number of loops or zones, and any network or repeater requirement. For projects in the GCC, name the approval the consultant specifies so we request the matching certificates from the manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the /CA suffix mean on the XFP502/CA?
It identifies the version that works with C-TEC’s CAST protocol; other XFP versions use the Apollo XP95/Discovery or Hochiki ESP protocols.
How many devices can the XFP502/CA control?
Up to 255 CAST devices on each of its two loops.
Which standards is the panel certified to?
EN54 parts 2 and 4 by LPCB, and EN54 part 13 by Kiwa Telefication.
Can panels be networked?
Yes. With the optional AFP711 network card, up to eight main panels can be connected on a two-wire RS485 network.
What batteries does it take?
Two 12 V 7 Ah VRLA batteries connected in series.
