Kidde KC2-OSH-CD Two-Wire Smoke and Heat Detector
Description
One detector head for smoke and heat
The Kidde KC2-OSH-CD is a conventional, low-profile, self-diagnostic, two-wire photoelectric smoke detector combined with a rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature heat sensor in one head. Multi-criteria optical sensing and an alarm verification feature are meant to tell smoke from a fire from nuisance smoke from non-fire sources. The datasheet lists it for commercial and industrial environments as well as life safety protection, and as compatible with the Kidde AEGIS-PHX, AEGIS 2.0 and AEGIS-XLT conventional control units.

Bases and installation
The head attaches to either a KC2-SB standard base or a KC2-RB relay base, and the head alone is not a complete detector point, so a base must be ordered with it. The relay base changes contact state when the detector alarms. The -4 variants suit 4 in. square boxes and include a trim skirt. Bases mount to a North American single-gang box, 3-1/2 or 4 in. octagon boxes, a European 75 mm single-gang box, or a BESA box with 60.3 mm fixing centers. Terminals are accessible from the room side. Class A and Class B wiring diagrams show a 5.1 k, 0.5 W end-of-line resistor, P/N 06-220184-001. The maximum wall mounting distance from the ceiling is 12 in. (305 mm).
What to confirm before ordering
Check that the panel’s two-wire detector compatibility list includes the KC2 series, since the datasheet points to separate compatibility documents (K-70-300 and K-84-901). State the quantity of heads, the base type, and whether remote LEDs or relay functions are needed. Mounting height, spacing and environment follow the applicable fire alarm code and the designer’s layout.

About brand
Kidde is a fire protection brand founded in 1917 in New Jersey by engineer Walter Kidde. After buying the rights to a steam-based shipboard fire system, Kidde replaced the steam with carbon dioxide, and the company went on to build the first portable CO2 extinguisher and the first built-in industrial CO2 system in the mid-1920s. Since December 2024 the Kidde brand has belonged to Kidde Global Solutions.
Seven Star LLC lists Kidde clean agent cylinders, control heads and pilot cylinders, and supplies Kidde fire systems parts to operators and fire contractors in Oman as an independent supplier. Household smoke alarms and aircraft systems sold under the same name are outside our scope.

Kidde fire suppression parts listed here
The listed items are release-train components: the WK-890181-000 electric control head, a 24 V DC unit used on Kidde FM-200 systems, an FM-200 (HFC-227ea) clean agent cylinder in the 200 lb size, and the K62462 pilot gas cylinder. Kidde also builds high-pressure CO2 systems with their own control heads and nitrogen pilot cylinders. Typical sites in the GCC are turbine enclosures, switchgear and control rooms, data halls and marine machinery spaces.

Ordering Kidde parts: what we need
Kidde components are ordered by part number, so send it exactly as printed on the label or in the system drawings. For an agent cylinder we also need the fill weight, valve type and the transport documents required. Send the nameplate photo and the system design reference whenever possible.
Facts checked against Kidde's own history pages (kidde.com) and published company histories, October 2026.

Smoke through a photoelectric chamber with multi-criteria sensing, and heat through a rate-of-rise sensor at 15 degrees F per minute plus a fixed 135 degrees F sensor.
02Does the head include a base?
No. The part number is the detector head only. It attaches to a KC2-SB or KC2-RB base, ordered separately.
03Which control units are named as compatible?
The datasheet lists the Kidde AEGIS-PHX, AEGIS 2.0 and AEGIS-XLT conventional control units.
04What is the operating voltage range?
6.5 to 33 VDC, with a standby current of 88 microamps at 18 VDC.
05What does the LED show?
A green flash every 30 seconds is normal, every 5 seconds is trouble, and a steady red LED is alarm.
