Brand:

Kidde NATURA Inert Gas Fire Suppression System

Description

Inert gas protection without residue

The Kidde NATURA inert gas system suppresses fire by lowering the oxygen content in the room to a level where combustion is no longer supported. The agent is a pure gas or a blend found naturally in the atmosphere, with zero ozone depletion potential and zero global warming potential, according to the sell sheet. The system is designed for electronic equipment and occupied-area applications where a residue-free agent is needed.

Technical specifications

Parameter Specification

Nozzles 180 degree, 360 degree and acoustic versions; acoustic nozzle below 110 dB at 1 m (500 Hz to 10 kHz)
Approvals as printed UL, FM, LPCB for all four agents; regional approvals vary by brand, check part numbers before ordering

Selecting the agent

Four NFPA and ISO approved agents let a design follow regional recharge conditions. IG-100 is pure nitrogen and the easiest to refill. IG-01 is argon and is the one the sell sheet marks for Class D materials such as titanium dust or magnesium. IG-55 is easier to blend than IG-541, and IG-541 is chosen when it is specified. Extinguishing concentrations below 52 percent are approved by the EPA for normally occupied spaces, according to the manufacturer.

Cylinders can be stored hundreds of feet from the hazard, which gives freedom in locating the storage room. The sell sheet lists applications such as data centers, battery energy storage, power plants, museums, archives, control rooms, electric switch rooms, banks, pharmaceutical and medical facilities and other high-value sites. Acoustic nozzles are offered where the discharge noise must be reduced and can replace existing nozzles without major pipe changes.

What to confirm before ordering

An inert gas design depends on room volume, minimum temperature, enclosure tightness and relief venting, since inert gases need pressure relief. Send these with the required agent, approval basis and the brand label needed in your region, because the sell sheet says approvals vary by brand. Part numbers, cylinder fills and flow calculations come from the manufacturer’s design program. Use a qualified fire contractor for installation and acceptance testing. A companion clean agent product on this site is the Kidde FM-200 cylinder.

About brand

Engineered fire suppression hardware, cylinders, valves and the control heads that release them, is the side of Kidde that industrial sites deal with. The name goes back to 1917. Seven Star LLC lists Kidde clean agent cylinders, control heads and pilot cylinders, and supplies Kidde fire systems parts to operators and fire contractors in Oman as an independent supplier. Household smoke alarms and aircraft systems sold under the same name are outside our scope.

Kidde fire suppression parts listed here

The listed items are release-train components: the WK-890181-000 electric control head, a 24 V DC unit used on Kidde FM-200 systems, an FM-200 (HFC-227ea) clean agent cylinder in the 200 lb size, and the K62462 pilot gas cylinder. Kidde also builds high-pressure CO2 systems with their own control heads and nitrogen pilot cylinders. Typical sites in the GCC are turbine enclosures, switchgear and control rooms, data halls and marine machinery spaces.

Ordering Kidde parts: what we need

Kidde components are ordered by part number, so send it exactly as printed on the label or in the system drawings. For an agent cylinder we also need the fill weight, valve type and the transport documents required. Send the nameplate photo and the system design reference whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which agents are available in NATURA?
IG-100 (nitrogen), IG-01 (argon), IG-55 (argon and nitrogen blend) and IG-541 (nitrogen, argon and CO2 blend).
What cylinder options are listed?
Pressures of 300 bar and 200 bar, and capacities of 80 liters and 140 liters, suitable for storage from -20 to 54 degrees C.
How many cylinders can one release unit actuate?
Up to 60 cylinders with a single release unit, according to the sell sheet.
Is NATURA safe for occupied spaces?
The sell sheet states the EPA approves inert gases for normally occupied spaces at extinguishing concentrations below 52 percent.
