Gullco KBM-28 Heavy Duty Plate Bevelling Machine
Description
Cold-machined plate bevels from 8 to 50 mm thickness
The Gullco KBM-28 is a heavy-duty, portable, self-propelled plate edge beveller that mills weld bevels on the top side of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium plate from 8 mm (5/16 in) to 50 mm (2 in) thick. Because the bevel is machined with a tooth cutter rather than cut thermally, there is no heat-affected zone, no oxide scale to grind off and no thermal distortion of the plate edge. The bevelling head adjusts to produce bevel angles from 22.5° through 55°, and the machine travels along the plate at up to 2 m per minute.
The KBM-28-100 is shown in the photo. For joints that need preparation on both faces, Gullco offers the KBM-28U underside beveller, which bevels the underside of the plate without turning the workpiece over.

Undercarriages, cutters and accessories
The beveller is mounted on an adjustable undercarriage for height setting; a hydraulic adjustable undercarriage (KBM-28-080) is also offered. Both use Gullco’s self-aligning, spring-loaded caster wheel assembly, which lets the unit propel itself along any length of plate while keeping a uniform bevel and consistent root face. Undercarriages are sold separately.
Standard equipment listed by Gullco is one KBM-28-X1C deep tooth cutter (medium cut), a set of bevel angle pins for 22.5°, 37.5°, 45° and 55°, and a tool kit. Optional items include the KBM-28-X1C medium tooth cutter for a smooth finish, the KBM-28-X1H high tensile cutter, GBM-28 angle bevel pins for other angles, and GBM-28-0.5 and GBM-28-1.0 cutter shims.
