GBC SUPERMAXI 4_16 Portable Pipe Beveling Machine

Description

An ID-locking pipe beveler for 4 to 12.75 in pipe

The GBC SUPERMAXI 4_16 is a portable pipe beveling machine from G.B.C. Industrial Tools, designed for piping work and welding workshops that process pipelines, boilers and fittings. It locks inside the pipe and machines the pipe end, and can be used for facing, external and internal tapering, and external and internal beveling.

GBC lists carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and Inconel among the materials the machine can process. In standard configuration it locks on inside diameters from 94.5 to 318.5 mm (3.7–12.5 in) and works on outside diameters from 101.6 to 323.85 mm (4–12.75 in). With the optional extension kit, the locking range reaches 418 mm (16.45 in) and the working range 420 mm (16.54 in).

Six-point locking, constant feed and interchangeable tools

The machine uses a locking system with six points of contact, intended to keep it stable and free of vibration during cutting, and a feed system and motors that deliver a constant radial speed so each pass is uniform. The layout is designed so that chips from the previous pass do not affect the following passes. The axial stroke is 50 mm.

The mandrel accepts both standard solid-body tools and wedge-locking tools with interchangeable inserts. GBC offers tools in 8% cobalt, titanium-coated and hard-metal-tipped versions, selected according to the material being machined, for bevels of different shapes and angles.

Choosing the drive and preparing the job

The same machine is built in pneumatic, electric and hydraulic versions, and the choice usually follows the utilities at the work site. The pneumatic version needs 1,400 Nl/min at 6–8 bar through a 3/4 in connection, the electric version runs on 110 or 220 V, and the hydraulic version needs a power pack delivering 30 l/min. The data sheet gives the hydraulic version the highest chuck torque, 2,200 Nm, against 692 Nm for the electric version.

Check the pipe inside diameter against the locking range and the outside diameter against the working range; pipe above 12.75 in OD needs the extension kit, which also increases the machine diameter. At 80 kg, plan how the machine will be lifted and supported while it is positioned in the pipe end.

Tools are specified by bevel angle and shape and by the pipe material, since GBC supplies them in different grades. Wedge-locking tools with interchangeable inserts and solid-body tools fit the same mandrel.

About brand
G.B.C. Industrial Tools is an Italian manufacturer of machines for cutting and beveling metal pipes and plates, founded in 1981 by Bruno Giottoli. Since 2016 its operations have been centralised in a facility in Cazzago San Martino, near Brescia, where the machines are designed and built. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the GBC SUPERMAXI 4_16 pipe beveling machine and sources GBC equipment for piping and fabrication work.

GBC product groups

The range includes portable pipe bevelers, pipe cutters, plate bevelers, flange facing machines, back-gouging grinders, stationary machines and special machines, together with pipe stands and pipe clamps. GBC names oil and gas, offshore, petrochemical and refining plants, pipelines, heat exchangers, shipbuilding and wind towers among the sectors it serves. Many models are offered with pneumatic, electric or hydraulic drive.

Ordering GBC machines: what we need

Give the model and drive, the pipe inside and outside diameters, the wall thickness and material, and the bevel geometry. Mention whether an extension kit, a hydraulic power pack or spare tools are needed, and send the GBC tool code for replacement tools.
