Gullco MOGGY GM-03-100 Trackless Welding Carriage

Description

The Gullco MOGGY GM-03-100 is the standard single-gun version of Gullco’s trackless welding carriage. It carries a MIG/MAG gun or a cutting torch at a precisely controlled speed along horizontal fillet, lap and butt joints, and links the travel motion with arc start and stop. Because it needs no track for fillet work, set-up on stiffened panels and long beams is fast.

Trackless carriage for horizontal fillet, lap and butt welds

The MOGGY is normally guided by adjustable guide wheels that steer it slightly into the vertical member, which is either the upright plate of the fillet joint or a fence or template set parallel to the seam. Guide rolls on the front or back follow small seam variations on straight or curved surfaces. Where there is no vertical member, the wheels can be inverted to run on industry-standard 6 in (152.4 mm) V-groove track.

The GM-03-100 control uses a Gullco microprocessor for repeatable stitch lengths, setting weld distance on and off independently of travel speed. It has a forward/stop/reverse switch, wire feed start on/off switch, travel speed potentiometer, automatic wire feed start with delayed carriage start, and a wire feed connector with a 15 ft (4572 mm) control cable. All functions show in an LED window, in in/min or cm/min.

Accessories and related models

Gullco lists these accessories for the MOGGY: GK-194-O-330 radial oscillator with brackets, which weaves the gun across the joint while the carriage provides travel; GM-03-059 adjustable guide roller for joints whose vertical member is higher or lower than the standard roller height; GM-01-065 cutting torch holder; and GM-01-070 dual gun holder for two independently positioned guns with two wire feed signals. The GM-03-200 is the factory dual-torch carriage, and a submerged arc MOGGY is also offered.

Typical applications named by Gullco include shipbuilding, offshore construction and general steel fabrication. Specify the supply voltage when ordering.

Automating long fillet runs with a carriage gives constant travel speed, which keeps leg length and penetration consistent along the joint and reduces welder fatigue on repetitive work.

About brand
Gullco International was formed in 1954 to serve the welding industry in North America and is a family-owned company with its world headquarters in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It manufactures welding and cutting automation, plate beveling machines, ceramic weld backing and electrode ovens. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Gullco GK-R-300 KAT 300 welding carriage and sources Gullco equipment for fabricators.

Gullco product groups

The best-known line is the KAT® family of welding and cutting carriages, which run on rigid, semi-rigid or flexible track and can carry weld oscillators, auto-weld and indexing functions, plasma or flame cutting torches and seam trackers. Gullco also builds MOGGY® trackless carriages, KBM plate beveling machines, gantry systems, KATBAK® ceramic weld backing and electrode stabilising ovens.

Ordering Gullco equipment: what we need

Give the Gullco item number, which includes the model option, and the supply voltage. For carriages, list the track type and length, the mounting devices and the torch or gun holder you need. For KATBAK backing, state the joint type, plate thickness and tile profile.
