Tri Tool 216B BEVELMASTER Pipe Beveling Machine

Description

The Tri Tool 216B BEVELMASTER is an ID-mounted lathe for beveling, facing and counterboring 6 in through 16 in pipe. A two-speed gearbox lets the same machine run high-torque form tools at low speed or a single-point module at higher speed, and with that optional module it can face and bevel pipe up to 32 in. Drive is either a right-angle pneumatic motor or an in-line hydraulic motor.

Two-speed gearbox for form tools and single point

Form tools cut the whole bevel profile in one plunge and need torque; single-point tooling generates the profile with a small tip and benefits from speed. The 216B gearbox covers both. A three-jaw mandrel expands through a manually operated draw rod to centre and align the lathe, the lathe reacts its own torque, and there are no external pinch points. A lifting point and hoist ring are provided, and the system ships with a lathe stand.

Supplied items are the 216B subassembly, two beveling/facing tool holders, one counterboring tool holder, mandrel assembly, air or hydraulic motor, lathe stand, wrench kit and operator’s manual. Cutting tool bits are sold separately.

Options for larger and angled work

Accessories are the Single Point module (SP) for facing and beveling to 32 in with 0–37.5° bevel and 5 in feed travel, an ID Tracking Module (IDTM), a full-function miter mandrel (0–5° angular and up to 4.8 mm parallel offset), a 3-jaw mandrel extension kit for 16.97–28.95 in bores, and a lockable steel storage and shipping box. Materials are as for the other BEVELMASTER lathes: mild and chrome steels to Rc 35, stainless steel, copper-nickel and aluminium, with special procedures for some high-temperature alloys.

As a general rule, form tools are quickest for standard 37.5° bevels on moderate walls, while single-point machining is better for compound or J-bevels and for faces larger than the form tool can reach. Having both on one lathe reduces the number of machines a crew has to bring to site.

About brand

Tri Tool designs portable precision machine tools for weld end preparation and on-site machining, and its history goes back to 1972, when the company was co-founded by Dr. George J. Wernette. It works from Rancho Cordova, California. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Tri Tool 208B BEVELMASTER pipe beveling machine and sources Tri Tool equipment for piping contractors.

Tri Tool product groups

The catalogue covers pipe beveling machines, pipe facing tools including offshore versions, tube facing and squaring tools, tube severing tools, heat exchanger tube facing tools, hydraulic power units and Walhonde line-up clamps. Alongside the standard machines the company offers custom-engineered tools, field machining services and equipment rentals, with applications in power generation, oil and gas, aerospace and government work.

Ordering Tri Tool machines: what we need

State the model and the drive (air, hydraulic or electric), the pipe size and schedule range, the material and the end preparation you need, such as bevel, compound bevel, facing or counterbore. Tool bits are profile-specific, so give the bevel angle and land, or the Tri Tool part number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pipe range does the Tri Tool 216B cover?
6 in through 16 in pipe as standard, and facing/beveling up to 32 in with the optional Single Point module.
Why does the 216B have a two-speed gearbox?
Low speed gives torque for form tools; high speed suits single-point machining.
What hydraulic supply does the 216B need?
A 765RVC power unit or equivalent giving 20 gpm at 1250 psi.
What is the maximum wall thickness?
1.50 in (38.1 mm) for standard schedules in its range.
How heavy is the base machine?
119 lb (54.0 kg) without mandrel, tool modules or motor.
