Tri Tool 236B BEVELMASTER Pipe Beveling Machine

Description

The Tri Tool 236B BEVELMASTER is the largest machine in the BEVELMASTER ID-mount line, built for beveling, facing and counterboring 12 in through 36 in pipe. It runs on a hydraulic motor, single or dual, with a dual pneumatic motor as an option, and centres itself in the bore with a five-jaw mandrel head.

Large-bore lathe for 12 in to 36 in pipe

Large-diameter headers, pipeline tie-ins and penstock spools need a stiff mount and slow, powerful rotation. The 236B turns its head at 3–5 rpm and feeds 0.84 mm (0.033 in) per turn of the handle, a finer feed than the smaller BEVELMASTER models. Its maximum rotating head diameter is 1016 mm (40 in), and the complete machine with mandrel, motor and stand weighs about 1200 lb, so plan a hoist and clear access around the pipe end.

The system includes the 236B sub-assembly, three tool holders, mandrel assembly, five-jaw mandrel head, five jaw block sets, lathe stand, hydraulic motor, wrench kit and operator’s manual. All wrenches are supplied; tool bits are separate.

Wall limits, materials and accessories

Walls heavier than 1.312 in can be machined when the ID exceeds 11.43 in and the OD is under 36 in; Tri Tool supports heavier-wall procedures on request. Materials are mild and chrome steels to Rc 35, stainless steel, copper-nickel and aluminium, with special procedures for some high-temperature alloys. Optional kits are the Single Point module, ID tracking module, miter mandrel, jaw block extension and miter mandrel extension.

Head speeds of only a few rpm are normal at this diameter: on 36 in pipe even 3 rpm gives a surface speed comparable with that of much smaller machines. Because the machine is heavy and the head swings a 40 in circle, site set-up usually includes a crane or chain hoist, a stable stand position and a cleared work area around the pipe end. Plan these together with the hydraulic power unit before the machine arrives.

About brand

Tri Tool designs portable precision machine tools for weld end preparation and on-site machining, and its history goes back to 1972, when the company was co-founded by Dr. George J. Wernette. It works from Rancho Cordova, California. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Tri Tool BEVELMASTER pipe beveling machines, including the 208B, and the 602TSB clamshell pipe lathe, and sources Tri Tool equipment for piping contractors.

Tri Tool product groups

The catalogue covers pipe beveling machines, pipe facing tools including offshore versions, tube facing and squaring tools, tube severing tools, heat exchanger tube facing tools, hydraulic power units and Walhonde line-up clamps. Alongside the standard machines the company offers custom-engineered tools, field machining services and equipment rentals, with applications in power generation, oil and gas, aerospace and government work.

Ordering Tri Tool machines: what we need

State the model and the drive (air, hydraulic or electric), the pipe size and schedule range, the material and the end preparation you need, such as bevel, compound bevel, facing or counterbore. Tool bits are profile-specific, so give the bevel angle and land, or the Tri Tool part number.
