GBC SUPERCUTTER Clamshell Pipe Cutting and Beveling Machine

Description

The GBC SUPERCUTTER is a split-frame cold cutting and beveling machine that clamps on the outside of the pipe. Its clamshell frame opens so it can be installed at any point along a continuous line, which makes it suited to pipelines, offshore platforms and other demanding sites, including underwater applications. It cuts, bevels, faces and counterbores pipe from 6 in to 60 in OD across nine frame sizes.

Cold cutting anywhere along the pipeline

Cold cutting avoids heat input at the cut, so the separated ends can be bevelled in the same set-up and welded without removing a heat-affected zone. The SUPERCUTTER rotates on high-quality bearings for speed of execution without vibration. Two copier tool holders follow the pipe OD profile to compensate for out-of-round pipe, and both have automatic feed. GBC offers the machine with pneumatic or hydraulic motorisation. The upper locking jaws carry an engraved scale for quick set-up, and a 90° motor assembly is offered for tight spots.

Frame sizes

Each SUPERCUTTER frame covers a 6 in band of pipe OD. Weights and idle speeds from the GBC data sheet are:

Version Pipe OD Weight Idle speed air / hydraulic (rpm)
SC6-12 6–12 in 143 kg 25 / 29
SC12-18 12–18 in 175 kg 20 / 24
SC18-24 18–24 in 225 kg 16 / 19
SC24-30 24–30 in 270 kg 14 / 17
SC30-36 30–36 in 336 kg 12 / 14
SC36-42 36–42 in 366 kg 10 / 13
SC42-48 42–48 in 410 kg 9 / 11
SC48-54 48–54 in 466 kg 8 / 10
SC54-60 54–60 in 515 kg 8 / 9

An internal bevel and counterboring tool holder with micrometric feed adjustment is optional, as is a chip collecting tray with forced coolant circulation. GBC supplies cutting and beveling tools, standard and compound, for all material types and can design tools to customer specification.

Split-frame machines are mounted around the pipe OD, so they do not need access to an open end and can sever a line in place. Allow radial clearance around the pipe for the frame and enough axial space for the tool holders and drive motor; on live plant the cutting area must be isolated, drained and gas-free before work starts.

About brand

G.B.C. Industrial Tools is an Italian manufacturer of machines for cutting and beveling metal pipes and plates, founded in 1981 by Bruno Giottoli. Since 2016 its operations have been centralised in a facility in Cazzago San Martino, near Brescia, where the machines are designed and built. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists GBC portable pipe beveling and pipe cutting machines, including the SUPERMAXI 4_16, and sources GBC equipment for piping and fabrication work.

GBC product groups

The range includes portable pipe bevelers, pipe cutters, plate bevelers, flange facing machines, back-gouging grinders, stationary machines and special machines, together with pipe stands and pipe clamps. GBC names oil and gas, offshore, petrochemical and refining plants, pipelines, heat exchangers, shipbuilding and wind towers among the sectors it serves. Many models are offered with pneumatic, electric or hydraulic drive.

Ordering GBC machines: what we need

Give the model and drive, the pipe inside and outside diameters, the wall thickness and material, and the bevel geometry. Mention whether an extension kit, a hydraulic power pack or spare tools are needed, and send the GBC tool code for replacement tools.
