Brand: Selectarc
Selectarc Ni182 ENiCrFe-3 Nickel Alloy Electrode
Description
Nickel-chromium-iron electrode for dissimilar and high-temperature joints
The Selectarc Ni182 is a basic-coated electrode with a NiCrFe nickel-base deposit, classified AWS A5.11 ENiCrFe-3, ISO 14172 E Ni 6182 (NiCr15Fe6Mn), UNS W86182 and material number 2.4620. Selectarc lists repair and joining of nickel alloys, 5% nickel steels, cryogenic stainless steels down to -196 °C, alloy 800 and other high-temperature steels.
It is also used to join dissimilar materials, such as stainless to low-alloy steel or stainless to nickel alloys, and to butter difficult-to-weld steels. The deposit is insensitive to cracking and resists acids, salt and alkaline solutions and molten salt, as well as oxidising and carburising atmospheres; Selectarc advises avoiding sulphur-bearing atmospheres.

Base materials and applications
The data sheet names alloy 600 (N06600, 2.4816), alloy 800 (N08800, 1.4876), 800H (N08810, 1.4958) and X8NiCrSi38-18 (1.4862). Applications cover oven parts, burners and heat treatment equipment, cement works, moulds, tanks, and transport and storage of liquefied gas, across chemical and petrochemical plants, glassworks, civil engineering and maintenance workshops.
The high manganese and niobium content of the ENiCrFe-3 deposit helps it tolerate dilution from iron-base materials, which is why it is widely used for transition joints between ferritic and austenitic steels in high-temperature service. For higher corrosion demands or 9% nickel steel, the molybdenum-bearing Selectarc Ni625 is the related grade.
Welding technique
Joints must be clean and free of grease and cracks. Selectarc recommends guiding the electrode with a slight inclination, keeping a short arc and limiting heat input with a stringer bead technique, weaving no more than 2 to 3 times the core wire diameter. Redry for 1 hour at 250–300 °C before use.
Because Ni182 runs on DC electrode positive only, check that the power source and cable set are suited to the low currents listed, from 50 A on the 2.5 mm size. Nickel-base weld pools are less fluid than steel, so the joint angle is often opened slightly and the root gap kept generous to allow full fusion. Use the 2.5 and 3.2 mm diameters for roots and positional work and 4.0 or 5.0 mm for flat filling.

About brand
Selectarc is a French manufacturer of welding and brazing filler metals, headquartered in Grandvillars, France. Its welding activity began in 1952 with Selectarc Industrie, a plant making covered electrodes, and the business is the welding and brazing division of the family group Viellard Migeon & Compagnie. In 2025 Framatome took a 40% stake in the company.
Selectarc welding and brazing products
The welding range covers covered electrodes for carbon, low-alloy, stainless and nickel-base steels, MIG and TIG wires, flux-cored wires and hardfacing products, with brazing alloys made at the former Reboud-Roche foundry. Selectarc lists the nuclear, defence and aerospace industries among its key markets, and welding production is concentrated at its Grandvillars site, which also houses the research laboratory.
Ordering Selectarc filler metals: what we need
Give the product name, for example Selectarc Ni625, and the AWS or ISO classification in your procedure, the diameter and length, and the quantity. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, checks the grade against the Selectarc technical data sheet and can provide the data sheet and the certificates issued with the order on request.
