Danfoss T70 Crane Radio Remote Control Transmitter (formerly Ikusi T70)
Description
Overview
The Danfoss T70 is a handheld radio remote control transmitter for overhead cranes and industrial lifting equipment, part of the Danfoss PLUS+1® remote control range. Many buyers still search for it as the “Ikusi remote”: Danfoss acquired the Remote Control business of the Spanish company Ikusi in 2018, and the orange T70 handsets that crane operators know from the Ikusi era are now Danfoss products. The Danfoss T70 family includes the T70 1 with up to six two-step push buttons, the T70 2 with up to ten buttons, and Hall versions of both with high-sensitivity proportional push buttons.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Danfoss T70 and its spare batteries and receivers to crane owners, maintenance contractors and OEMs throughout the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. When an older Ikusi handset is lost or damaged, we help the maintenance team match the existing receiver, button layout and frequency band so the replacement can be configured correctly the first time.
Operating Principle
The Danfoss T70 sends coded radio frames to a matching receiver mounted on the crane. Danfoss specifies a multi-band radio covering 433, 434, 869 and 902–928 MHz with full-duplex communication, so the transmitter not only sends commands but also receives feedback from the receiver for display on the LCD. The two-step push buttons give a first and second speed for each motion, for example slow and fast hoisting, and the 100 ms response time keeps crane movement directly linked to the operator’s hand.
To keep the link reliable in crowded radio environments, the Danfoss T70 uses frequency management against interference, Listen Before Transmitting to find a free channel at start-up, and automatic power control to save battery and reduce interference between neighbouring systems. The STOP function is rated Category 3 / PLd, and the removable EEPROM SIM module carries the system configuration, so a spare transmitter can take over from a damaged unit simply by swapping the module.
Engineering Design of the Danfoss T70
The T70 1 handset weighs 460 g with battery and measures 270 × 71 × 64 mm, with an IP65 / NEMA 4 housing that Danfoss describes as highly resistant to impacts and designed for improved ergonomics. The keypad carries the main motion buttons plus START, STOP and a key switch, and auxiliary toggle or rotary switches can be added. A 2 × 12 character LCD display shows status and feedback, and a range limiter is available to restrict operation to a defined distance from the receiver.
The handset runs on the BT06K battery for about 10 hours of operation and is carried by a hand or shoulder strap. The T70 2 version adds up to ten push buttons for cranes with more motions or auxiliary functions, and tandem and multiple-transmitter or multiple-receiver arrangements allow two cranes to be controlled together or one crane to be operated from several stations. Associated receivers listed by Danfoss for the T70 1 are the R06, R13, R70, MPCAN and MP08.
Key Features
Crane operators and maintenance engineers choose this handset for these reasons:
- High-sensitivity two-step push buttons give two speeds per motion for precise positioning of the load.
- A multi-band radio with full-duplex communication returns receiver feedback to the 2 × 12 character LCD display.
- The external removable EEPROM SIM module allows a spare handset to be put into service in minutes.
- Frequency management, Listen Before Transmitting and automatic power control keep the link stable among other radio systems.
- The Category 3 / PLd STOP function meets the safety expectations of crane inspection bodies.
- An IP65 / NEMA 4 impact-resistant housing at only 460 g reduces operator fatigue over a full shift.
- The BT06K battery delivers about 10 hours of operation between charges.
- Tandem operation and multiple transmitter or receiver systems support twin-hoist and multi-crane lifts.
Industrial Applications
Danfoss lists lifting and crane applications as the home of the Danfoss T70. In Oman and the wider GCC this means EOT and gantry cranes in power stations, desalination plants and substations, workshop cranes at oilfield service bases in Nizwa and Fahud, heavy fabrication bays and pipe yards in Sohar, warehouse and port cranes in Duqm and Salalah, and maintenance hoists in cement, steel and mining sites. Typical hoists controlled this way include the Konecranes CXT wire rope hoist and the Demag DC-Com chain hoist, and long-travel cranes often also carry cable reels such as the Hirschmann 154/06 crane boom cable reel.
Replacing a pendant with the Danfoss T70 lets the operator stand where the load is clearly visible, away from the hook and suspended load. The standard handset is not intended for explosive atmospheres; Danfoss offers a separate T70 2 ATEX transmitter with the BT06K-ATEX battery for hazardous areas.
The matching crane receiver is the Danfoss R70 radio remote control receiver.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Danfoss T70 across Oman and the GCC and supports configuration and spare-part planning from Muscat.T70 Variants, Pairing and Safe Daily Use
Danfoss lists four handsets in the T70 family. The T70 1 is the classic lifting model for overhead cranes. The T70 1 Hall replaces the two-step buttons with high-sensitivity proportional push buttons, which suits industrial and off-highway machinery where stepless speed is needed. The T70 2 is the multiple-configuration unit with up to ten push buttons and a weight of 550 g, and the T70 2 Hall combines that layout with proportional buttons. For the T70 2 versions Danfoss lists the R13, R70, MPCAN, MP08 and MP20 receivers; for the T70 1 Hall it lists the R13, R70, MPCAN and MP08.
Across the family, Danfoss highlights TWIN synchro operation, tandem systems and configurations where several transmitters share one receiver or one transmitter commands several receivers. The R70 user manual adds practical rules that apply to every handset: check the STOP button and other safety features each working day, remove the transmitter key when the set is not in use, keep the transmitter out of reach of people who are not permitted to operate the crane, and where several sets are installed confirm from the label or display that the handset belongs to the right machine. Danfoss also asks users to service the equipment periodically and to use only Danfoss spare parts for repairs, which is why Seven Star LLC can quote batteries and handsets for the Danfoss T70 family on request.

About brand
From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.
Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.
Danfoss product families on this page
Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.
Where Danfoss equipment is used
District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.
Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need
Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
