Description
The Hilti TE 30-22 is a cordless SDS Plus (TE-C) rotary hammer for anchor holes and rebar doweling in concrete and masonry, with Active Vibration Reduction and Active Torque Control on the Nuron battery platform. Hilti calls it its most powerful SDS Plus cordless rotary hammer, with a 3.8 J impact energy and a 10 to 28 mm optimum drilling range.
The workhorse SDS Plus size for installation crews
For electrical, mechanical and fire-protection installers the 10 to 28 mm band covers most anchor and conduit-support holes. Hilti lists drilling anchor holes in concrete and masonry (recommended 10 to 28 mm), drilling for reinforcing bar doweling, virtually dust-free drilling when a TE DRS-C or TE DRS-D vacuum connector is fitted, light chiselling such as tile scraping and channel cleaning, and occasional drilling in wood and steel with an optional quick-release chuck.
The manufacturer states that the brushless motor and Nuron batteries allow the tool to drill up to twice as long per charge as comparable SDS Plus rotary hammers and to drill through reinforcing bar up to 200 percent faster than its predecessors; treat those as Hilti claims rather than tested site results. Active Torque Control is the key safety feature when a bit catches rebar.

Choosing between the 22 V cordless rotary hammers
Within the cordless range the practical split is by bit diameter: TE 6-22 and TE 8-22 for holes up to about 16 to 18 mm, TE 30-22 for 10 to 28 mm, TE 60-22 for 18 to 40 mm and TE 70-22 for 20 to 55 mm with an SDS Max chuck. The TE 30-22 is the step where chisel work and larger anchors become routine.
Before quoting, confirm the battery size and charger because the tool is sold as a tool body or kit and the operating instruction cites two battery types (B 22-85 and B 22-255) for its vibration data. Check that bits are SDS Plus, and that the work does not need an exact tightening torque from any driving accessory.
