Brand: HYTORC
HYTORC VERSA Low-Clearance Hydraulic Torque Wrench
Description
The HYTORC VERSA is the economical low-clearance hydraulic torque wrench in the HYTORC lineup: a hex-cassette style tool with a three-moving-part design, a continuous slim profile and a 360 degree uniswivel for the hose. The cut sheet describes it as the ideal tool for low-clearance jobs that need high torque and repeatable results, and as the most economical solution for bolting needs. The model range runs from VERSA-1 to VERSA-30, covering 203 to 49051 Nm.
Why choose a low-clearance cassette wrench
When the radius from the hex corner to the nearest obstruction is small, a square-drive wrench cannot be used. The VERSA keeps the same profile from the powerhead to the hex link, so the whole tool fits into narrow gaps, for example between flange bolts on closely spaced pipework, around heat-exchanger channel covers and in subsea or splash-zone structures. The manufacturer notes that the tool is subsea safe, and its simple three-part mechanism means fewer seals and parts to repair, which keeps operating cost down. Interchangeable hex links let the same powerhead cover several nut sizes. The manufacturer states the VERSA has been trusted worldwide for over 30 years, and the same cassette principle is used across the line, so operators who know one size can use the others without retraining. Torque is generated by hydraulic pressure acting on the piston, which means accuracy depends on the pump gauge, the hose condition and the calibration of the individual tool, and the supplied torque chart should be read at the working pressure.

Selection guidance
Work from the nut across-flats size first: the link must fit the hex, and the link determines the available torque inside the model range. Then check the clearance: height and link width must pass through the available gap, and the distance from the hex corner is the controlling dimension. For repeated jobs on the same joint size, an integrated reaction washer system can avoid reaction arm fixtures. The VERSA has no cycle counter or auto-release feature, which are found on the MXT+, so it suits general maintenance rather than data-driven bolting programs. Pump and hose set are separate items.
How the HYTORC VERSA works
Oil pressure from a pump moves a piston in the powerhead. The piston pushes a drive plate that turns a hex link around the nut. A reaction arm rests against a nearby part and takes the counter force. The torque follows the oil pressure, so it can be set from the pump gauge.
Where the VERSA is used
- Flange bolts on closely spaced pipework
- Heat-exchanger channel covers
- Subsea and splash-zone structures
- Low-clearance bolting jobs
- Maintenance shutdowns
Selection checklist for the VERSA

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the VERSA
Fit the hex link on the powerhead and slide it onto the nut. Set the reaction arm against a firm surface. Connect the hose to the uniswivel. Raise the pressure to the value in the torque chart. Keep the hoses and the tool clean and have the tool calibrated at regular intervals.

About brand
HYTORC is a US industrial bolting specialist known for hydraulic torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic torque tools, pumps and the reaction-washer and nut systems that go with them. The company has focused on controlled bolted joints since 1968, and its tools are used for flange make-up, structural steel, wind and power plant maintenance.
Torque tools for controlled bolting
The catalogue covers low-clearance and square-drive hydraulic wrenches, cordless electric torque tools, pneumatic multipliers and hydraulic pumps. Many tools accept the company reaction washer or nut, so the tool can push against the fastener itself instead of an adjacent object.
Specifying bolting equipment
Choose a tool by bolt size, required torque range, access clearance and the power source available on site. Each model page lists the published torque ranges and links to the manufacturer cut sheet where one exists. Seven Star LLC supplies HYTORC equipment against a stated torque range, drive size and power supply, and quotes after the bolting requirement is confirmed.
HYTORC publishes torque charts, manuals and cut sheets for each tool family, so the joint calculation can be checked against the manufacturer data before an order is placed.
