Enerpac CR30S 30 Ton Cribbing Ring Set for RCS302 Cylinders

CR30S is the Enerpac cribbing ring set for the 30 ton RCS302 cylinder. Instead of stacking timber, steel plates or other improvised blocking under a jacked load, the set gives interlocking U-rings and flat spacers that are dimensionally consistent and designed to work together. The CR30S rates 30 t (295 kN), includes three U-rings and two spacers in a flight case and weighs 10 kg (22 lb) in total.

Mechanical load holding for a hydraulic lift

A hydraulic cylinder should never be the only thing holding a load. The CR30S follows the lift with a stack: the cylinder extends, a U-ring is slid in under the load, the cylinder retracts so the load rests on the ring, and a spacer then lets the cylinder reach higher on the next stroke. Enerpac describes the U-rings as interlocking, with an integrated pin system that prevents misalignment during critical lift phases.

The fork-style U-ring has an ergonomic grip that secures it at multiple angles, so hands stay clear of the load during placement. Positioning is done with the optional CRF150 fork, which the manual recommends always using to keep fingers and hands away from the load.

Selection and ordering guide

Use the CR30S only with the cylinder it was designed for. The manual pairs CR30S with RCS302, CR50S with RCS502 and CR100S with RCS1002. The CR30S uses three U-rings and two spacers as supplied; adding one extra U-ring and one extra spacer is permitted on the 30 ton set and raises the maximum cribbing height to 176 mm, but side load capacity then drops from 5% to 3%.

Do not assume the full 30 t rating is available. The manual says the total load on the U-rings must not exceed the cylinder rating and gives two good-practice figures: 80% where a four-point lift may rest on only three cylinders, and 95% in the operating precautions. Use at least three points of support and centre the load on cylinder, rings and spacers.

Installation and operation notes

Extend the cylinder to 95% of total stroke, insert the bottom U-ring with the fork and seat it, then retract fully so the load rests on the ring. Place the bottom spacer, extend until the load rests on it, extend again to 95%, and add each top U-ring and spacer in turn. Make sure all cylinders start at the same distance from the load. The maximum allowable floor gradient is 0.2 degrees and a base plate is recommended.

To lower, extend until the load rests on the spacers, remove one U-ring with the fork, retract, remove one spacer, and repeat until all rings are out. Keep hands and feet clear, never stack on unlevel ground, and keep personnel out from under hydraulically supported loads. Inspect for cracks, corrosion and deformation, replace damaged parts, and store clean and dry; the manual advises against exposing hydraulic equipment to 65 C (150 F) or more.

Typical uses, in general engineering terms, are planned lifts of machinery, generators and pump skids, bearing or bridge work, and plant shutdown jobs where a load must be held at height between cylinder moves.
