Four managed switch lines appear on this page. The RS20 and RS30 are compact OpenRail switches, shown here as the RS20-1600T1T1 with 16 Fast Ethernet ports and an RS30, the version with two Gigabit ports. The RSP20 belongs to the RSP rail switches, which were introduced with PRP and HSR redundancy for networks that need high availability. The BRS20 belongs to the newer BOBCAT family. The OZD 485 G12-1300 PRO is a repeater that carries RS-485 signals over fiber in line, star or ring layouts. The 154/06 crane boom cable reel assembly is a different kind of product and is not network equipment.
Where Hirschmann equipment is used
Hirschmann industrial switches connect PLCs, drives, protection relays and HMIs in power distribution, oil and gas facilities, water plants, transport systems and factories. How do I read a Hirschmann switch product code?
The code starts with the family, such as RS20, RSP20 or BRS20, followed by digits for the number and type of ports, then characters for uplink media, temperature range, voltage range, approvals and software variant. Hirschmann publishes a key for each family. The label also shows a short order number. Send both so we can confirm the configuration in the manufacturer's documentation.
Can an RS20 or RS30 be replaced by a BOBCAT switch?
The BOBCAT family is the newer generation of compact managed rail switches and covers comparable port counts, but it is a different platform, so do not assume that the configuration file of an RS20 can simply be loaded. Dimensions and terminal layout should be compared too. Send the old product code and we will check which current model the manufacturer names as the successor.
What is the OZD 485 G12 PRO used for?
It is a fiber optic repeater for RS-485 based networks. It converts the electrical bus to optical fiber so that a serial fieldbus segment can span long distances, cross areas with heavy electrical interference or link buildings at different earth potential. State the protocol, baud rate, fiber type and whether a line or redundant ring is planned.
