Migatronic CenTIG Pro TIG Welding Machine

Description

Overview

The Migatronic CenTIG Pro is a next-generation TIG welding system from the Danish manufacturer Migatronic, engineered for production environments that demand power, precision and uptime. It is offered in two power classes, CenTIG Pro 300 and CenTIG Pro 400, and each can be specified as DC or AC/DC and as an air-cooled or water-cooled package. That gives eight practical configurations, from a compact DC unit for stainless and carbon steel up to a water-cooled 400 A AC/DC system for long shifts on aluminium.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Migatronic CenTIG Pro to fabrication companies, piping contractors and production workshops in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Our team helps buyers select the power class, current type and cooling, and chooses matching TIG torches, control units and trolleys for each workstation.

Working Principle

TIG welding, in general terms, forms the arc between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece under an inert gas shield, with filler added separately when required. DC output with the electrode negative suits steels, stainless and nickel alloys, while AC is needed for aluminium so that the oxide film is broken up during the positive half cycle. The Migatronic CenTIG Pro AC/DC versions let the operator shape the AC waveform with 100 adjustment steps and tune frequency and balance to control cleaning action, penetration and tungsten wear, with a Simple AC mode for quicker setup and an Advanced mode giving access to all AC parameters.

On the Migatronic CenTIG Pro the welding flow is fully adjustable from pre-gas and ignition through slope-up, peak current and crater fill. Pulse settings cover frequency, pulse time and current ratio, helping balance penetration, cooling and bead appearance. Migatronic’s Intelligent Gas Control (IGC) adjusts shielding gas flow automatically according to current, material and arc dynamics, which the manufacturer says reduces waste, extends bottle life and keeps coverage consistent during pulse welding and arc ignition.

Engineering Design of the Migatronic CenTIG Pro

All versions of the Migatronic CenTIG Pro connect to a 3 by 400 V supply with a tolerance of plus or minus 15 percent. The 300 A models use a 16 or 32 A fuse and the 400 A models a 32 A fuse. Each machine is 757 mm long and 251 mm wide, with the torch holder adding 36 mm; air-cooled units are 674 mm high and water-cooled units 902 mm. Weights range from 36.5 kg for an air-cooled DC unit to 60.5 kg for a water-cooled AC/DC unit. Protection class is IP23S, the application class is S/CE, and Migatronic lists EN/IEC 60974-1, -3 and -10 class A.

The optional water-cooling unit of the Migatronic CenTIG Pro has a cooling efficiency of 1700 W at 1 l/min, a 5 litre tank and a maximum pressure of 5 bar. Control is through a 7-inch LED interface that shows adjustments in real time. Job control allows welders to create, store and lock parameters for WPS compliance, save favourites, and share jobs by USB. Two trolley sizes are offered: a small trolley for gas bottles up to 20 litres or central gas supply, and a large trolley for bottles up to 50 litres with a reinforced frame and an integrated lifting eye for crane handling.

Key Features

The main strengths of the Migatronic CenTIG Pro according to the manufacturer brochure:

  • Two power classes deliver 3 to 300 A or 3 to 400 A in TIG, with MMA from 15 A up to 300 A or 400 A.
  • CenTIG Pro 300 provides 300 A at 100% duty cycle, and CenTIG Pro 400 provides 400 A at 60% and 360 A at 100%.
  • DC or AC/DC and air or water cooling can be combined to suit the application.
  • Advanced AC waveform control with 100 adjustment steps fine-tunes arc sound and heat on aluminium.
  • Intelligent Gas Control (IGC) automatically regulates gas flow to reduce consumption and protect weld quality.
  • TIG-A-TACK makes small, precise fixations without filler for fit-up work.
  • TIG-REP-TACK uses a cold pulse technique for materials from 0.5 to 1.5 mm thick.
  • Job memory with locking and USB sharing helps keep production welds within the approved procedure.

Industrial Applications

For oil and gas, petrochemical and power projects in Oman, the Migatronic CenTIG Pro fits shop fabrication of pressure pipework, where controlled welding flow and crater fill help when sealing root passes, as well as stainless process skids and instrument tubing. The locked job function of the Migatronic CenTIG Pro supports workshops that must demonstrate WPS compliance to inspectors, and the Intelligent Gas Control helps reduce argon consumption in high-volume production.

The AC/DC versions extend the Migatronic CenTIG Pro into aluminium fabrication for marine, transport and architectural work in Sohar, Duqm and Muscat, and TIG-REP-TACK suits thin-sheet stainless for food, pharmaceutical and water treatment equipment. Seven Star LLC supplies complete packages including the power source, cooling unit, TIG Ergo or TIG Adjust torches and trolleys, and coordinates deliveries to workshops across Oman and the GCC.
