GYS TITAN 400 DC TIG/MMA Welding Machine

Description

400 A DC TIG power source for pipework and stainless fabrication

The GYS TITAN 400 DC (reference 013520) is a three-phase DC TIG and MMA inverter with high-frequency arc ignition. GYS designed it for demanding TIG work on high-alloy metals, citing pipework, tubular construction and stainless steel plate fabrication as typical uses. Its duty cycle of 400 A at 60% and 360 A at 100% supports long welds on thick sections, and it also welds coated rutile, basic and cellulosic electrodes up to 6 mm diameter.

The interface is built around a large central knob that can be used with welding gloves, with all TIG parameters reachable from one control. The keypad can be locked to prevent unwanted changes, and the cooling fan is managed to reduce noise, dust intake and idle consumption (35 W off arc).

Welding functions

In TIG, the machine offers continuous DC and DC pulse to reduce distortion. Three special modes are included: SPOT for traditional tacking of thin sheet, TACK for very precise, oxide-free tack points that disappear in the weld bead, and E-TIG, which holds bead width and penetration constant regardless of torch position by controlling welding energy. Trigger modes are 2T, 4T and 4T LOG, and the machine detects trigger, double-button and potentiometer torches automatically. MMA pulse helps vertical-up welding by limiting sagging.

For procedure records, current and voltage are displayed during and after welding for WPS and PQR use, a calibration mode corrects for cable voltage drop, and ENERGY mode calculates heat input according to EN 1011-1, ISO/TR 18491 and QW-409. The Connect 5 function lets an automation controller trigger five stored programs. The chassis is reinforced, has rubber pads, two steel handles and four lifting rings.

Accessories and configuration

Accessory Reference
WCU 1kW C cooling unit (1000 W, 5.5 l) 013537
ABITIG liquid-cooled torch, 450 W, 8 m, trigger 037359
ABITIG liquid-cooled torch, 8 m, double button 037366
RC-FA1 foot pedal 045682
RC-HA1 manual remote control 045675
Trolley 10m³ 037328
Filter 046580

For pipe and heavy stainless work near the upper current range, a water-cooled torch with the WCU cooling unit is the usual configuration. If aluminium must also be welded, the AC/DC GYS TITANIUM 400 is the alternative in the same power class. The datasheet dates from 2018, so current availability is confirmed at quotation.

About brand
GYS is a French manufacturer of welding and cutting equipment, battery chargers and collision repair systems, active since 1964. The company is headquartered in Saint-Berthevin, France, and has subsidiaries in China, Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the GYS NEOPULSE 400 G pulsed MIG/MAG power source. GYS product range The welding and cutting program covers MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA inverters, plasma cutters, wire feeders, cooling units and torches. GYS also builds battery chargers and boosters, car body repair and spot welding equipment, and induction heating tools. Its industrial NEOPULSE series uses separate NEOFEED wire feeders and synergic curves for steel, stainless steel, aluminium and CuSi wires. Ordering GYS equipment: what we need GYS identifies every product and accessory by a six-digit reference number, so send the reference along with the model name. For a welding set, list the wire feeder, interconnection cable length, cooling unit, trolley and torch, and give the mains voltage at site.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the duty cycle of the GYS TITAN 400 DC?
400 A at 60% and 360 A at 100% at 40 °C according to EN 60974-1.
Which arc start methods does the TITAN 400 DC offer?
HF contactless ignition or LIFT contact ignition for environments sensitive to high-frequency interference.
What is TACK mode?
A precise spot-welding function without oxidation that reduces heat distortion; the tack points are not visible in the final weld bead.
How many jobs can be stored?
50 programs per process can be saved for repeatable welds.
Can it measure arc energy?
Yes. ENERGY mode displays and calculates the welding energy according to EN 1011-1, ISO/TR 18491 and QW-409.
