Telwin Superior TIG 422 Wave AC/DC TIG Welding Machine

Description

400 A AC/DC TIG inverter with Wave OS control

The Telwin Superior TIG 422 Wave AC/DC (code 816186) is a three-phase inverter for TIG AC/DC and MMA welding. Telwin lists steel, stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, copper, nickel, magnesium and their alloys as weldable materials. The machine runs Telwin’s Wave OS operating system: an EASY mode sets parameters automatically from material and thickness, while the EXPERT or PRO environment opens every parameter of the TIG cycle for custom programs that can be saved, recalled and exported via USB.

For TIG, pulse and Easy Pulse modes reduce distortion on thin parts, and more than ten TIG modes are available in 2-stroke, 4-stroke and bi-level operation. THINSPOT (DC) makes clean spot welds on very thin sheet, MIX AC-DC heats the part before AC welding, and three AC waveforms (sinusoidal, square, optimised) can be chosen to suit the job. Arc starting is HF or LIFT at an optimised minimum current.

MMA functions, protection and build

In MMA, the machine works with direct or pulsed current; MMA Pulse is aimed at basic electrodes and positional welding. Hot start and arc force are adjustable, anti-stick protection is standard, and a VRD device limits the open-circuit voltage. The housing uses a dedicated air tunnel so that cooling air does not pass over the electronics, protecting them from dust and dirt, and the modular design speeds up servicing. Protections cover temperature, over- and undervoltage, internal dirt, overcurrent, phase failure and coolant.

The machine recognises a connected cooling unit automatically, accepts a remote control and works with Telwin PRO torches. A water-cooled version with trolley is listed by Telwin under code 816187.

Applications and selection

A 400 A AC/DC TIG source is typically chosen for aluminium fabrication, food and pharmaceutical stainless work and maintenance shops that handle a wide range of thicknesses. On the 400 V supply, the machine needs a circuit sized for 32 A maximum input current. For continuous welding above about 200 A, a water-cooled torch is advisable, so consider the cooled version or add a cooling unit. Data export over USB helps when weld records must be kept for quality systems.

About brand
Telwin is an Italian manufacturer of welding equipment, plasma cutting systems and battery chargers and starters, operating since 1963. The family-run company has its headquarters and industrial centre in Villaverla, in the province of Vicenza. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the Telwin Supermig 500i XD multi-process inverter. Telwin divisions and products The manual welding division covers MIG-MAG, TIG and MMA inverters, including the Supermig i and Technomig ranges, together with torches, wire feeders, cooling units and protective equipment. Further divisions handle plasma cutting, battery charging and starting, charging systems for electric vehicles and car body repair systems. Ordering Telwin equipment: what we need Telwin identifies each product by a six-digit code, such as 816201, so send the code with the model name. For a welding set, state whether you need the power source alone or a pack with wire feeder, trolley or water cooling, and give the mains voltage at site.
