Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC TIG Welding Machine

Description

Overview

The Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC is a three-phase AC/DC TIG welding machine from the Kemppi Master T series, a range the manufacturer positions as premium equipment for professional AC and DC TIG work. With 350 amperes of TIG output, it handles aluminium in AC mode and stainless steel, carbon steel and alloy materials in DC mode. Specified ACDC models in the series add two productivity tools that set them apart from conventional TIG sources: MAX WeldClean for electrolytic cleaning of finished welds, and a DeMagnetization mode for removing residual magnetism from the workpiece.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC to fabricators, piping contractors and maintenance departments in Oman and the GCC. Our Muscat team offers engineering support, helping customers choose between gas and liquid cooling, select Flexlite TX torches and remote controls, and configure trolleys for workshop or site use. The attached brochure covers the whole Master T family; this page focuses on the 355 ACDC model and lists its sister models for comparison.

Working Principle

As a general explanation, gas tungsten arc welding uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to carry the arc, with argon or an argon mixture shielding the electrode and pool, and filler rod added by hand where needed. Direct current with the electrode negative gives deep, narrow penetration suited to steels and nickel alloys. Alternating current is used for aluminium because the electrode-positive half cycle breaks up the tough oxide layer, while the negative half cycle provides penetration. The Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC provides both outputs from one inverter power source.

Kemppi describes smooth arc ignition, low noise and enhanced arc control as core qualities of the Master T series. On the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC, Pulse and MicroTack functions help manage heat input on thin sections and make small tack welds precise. In MAX WeldClean mode the machine is used, with suitable accessories, to clean heat tint from stainless welds electrolytically without separate equipment. In DeMagnetization mode it reduces remnant magnetic fields in a workpiece, which in general practice is a known cause of arc blow on pipe joints that have been handled with magnetic tools or inspected by magnetic methods.

Engineering Design of the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC

The Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC shares the compact 544 by 205 by 443 mm housing of the smaller Master T models and weighs 21.5 kg without accessories. It connects to three-phase 380 to 460 V supplies and also has a low range for 220 to 230 V, where Kemppi rates it at 300 A and 40% duty cycle. On the main range it delivers 350 A at 30% duty cycle. The TIG output range is 5 A at 1 V up to 350 A at 38 V, and MMA is available from 10 A to 270 A.

The Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC carries IP23 protection when fully installed, EMC class A and an operating range of minus 20 to plus 40 degrees Celsius. Kemppi lists conformity with IEC 60974-1, -3 and -10, IEC 61000-3-12 and GB 15579.1. The series can be configured for gas or liquid cooling, uses a 7-inch display with Weld Assist on ACDC models, and accepts foot, hand or on-torch remote controls including the wireless HR45 hand remote and FR45 foot pedal.

Key Features

Highlights of the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC from the manufacturer documentation:

  • It provides 350 A of TIG output at 30% duty cycle on 380-460 V and 300 A at 40% on the 220-230 V low range.
  • AC and DC TIG processes are available from one unit, covering aluminium as well as stainless and carbon steels.
  • MAX WeldClean mode allows electrolytic cleaning of welds without extra equipment.
  • DeMagnetization mode removes residual magnetic fields from the workpiece to improve arc stability and directional control.
  • Weld Assist on the 7-inch display guides welders to settings by joint type, position and material thickness.
  • Pulse, MicroTack and AutoCool functions support heat control, precise tacking and energy efficiency.
  • Gas or liquid cooled configurations and two- or four-wheel transport units suit workshop and site use.
  • The optional WeldEye cloud service supports quality welding management, and Kemppi states a 3 year warranty for the series.

Industrial Applications

For process piping in oil and gas, petrochemical and power plants in Oman, the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC is suited to TIG root and hot passes on carbon steel, stainless and chrome-moly lines, where arc stability and clean starts matter. The DeMagnetization mode is relevant on pipelines and spools that carry residual magnetism, and MAX WeldClean helps stainless fabricators in the food, pharmaceutical and water sectors remove heat tint at the bench.

The AC capability of the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC opens aluminium work such as marine fittings, enclosures and heat exchanger components in Sohar and Duqm, and the low-voltage range adds flexibility on construction sites with limited supplies. Seven Star LLC supplies the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC with torches, remotes, coolers and trolleys, and our specialists can recommend the larger Master T 505 ACDC or the DC-only models when a project calls for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC different from a DC-only TIG machine?
It provides both AC and DC TIG output, so it can weld aluminium as well as steels. ACDC models with the 7-inch display also include MAX WeldClean for electrolytic weld cleaning and a DeMagnetization mode.
What is the output of the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC?
Kemppi rates it at 350 A TIG at 30% duty cycle on 380-460 V supplies and 300 A at 40% on the 220-230 V low range. The TIG range runs from 5 A to 350 A, and MMA is available up to 270 A.
Why is the DeMagnetization mode useful?
Residual magnetism in a workpiece can deflect the arc. The DeMagnetization mode reduces remnant magnetic fields, which Kemppi says improves arc stability and directional arc control.
Can the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC be liquid cooled?
Yes. The Master T series is offered in gas or liquid cooled configurations, with matching Flexlite TX TIG torches and two- or four-wheel transport units.
Does Seven Star LLC supply the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC in the GCC?
Yes. Seven Star LLC supplies the Kemppi Master T 355 ACDC and related accessories to customers in Oman and across the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat.
