Brand:

Lorch V 50 AC/DC TIG Welding Machine

Description

500 A AC/DC TIG system for heavy aluminium and steel sections

The Lorch V 50 AC/DC is the most powerful model of the Lorch V series of TIG welding machines. It is built as a mobile compact system on a wheeled chassis, with a TIG welding range of 3 to 500 A and electrode (MMA) capability up to 400 A. The AC/DC version welds aluminium and its alloys with alternating current as well as steel, stainless steel and other metals in DC, and Lorch rates it at 500 A at 60% duty cycle in both DC and AC.

The V series uses Lorch’s “3 steps to weld” operating concept: choose the process, set the current, start welding, with illuminated symbols guiding the welder through the welding sequence. A digital volt-ampere display, infinitely variable current setting, a pulse function, a remote control socket and Tiptronic job memory for 100 welding tasks are included.

When a 500 A TIG machine is justified

Most manual TIG work stays below 300 A, so the V 50 is normally chosen for thick aluminium, where AC TIG on 10 mm and heavier sections needs high current and a water-cooled torch, for mechanised TIG with long arc-on times, or for shops that want reserve capacity at 100% duty cycle. The water cooling unit and wheeled chassis keep the torch, cooler and power source in one unit. For lighter work, the

covers up to 300 A.

In general, AC TIG on aluminium alternates between an electrode-positive half wave that breaks up the oxide layer and an electrode-negative half wave that provides penetration, so the current needed for a given plate thickness is higher than in DC on steel. Preheating heavy aluminium sections and using larger tungstens and gas lenses are common practice at the upper end of the range, and a 32 A supply circuit must be available at the workstation.

About brand

Lorch Schweißtechnik is a German welding equipment manufacturer based in Auenwald, Germany, and the company was founded in 1957. It builds MIG-MAG, TIG and electrode welding machines for manual work as well as cobot and automated welding solutions. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the Lorch S8 SpeedPulse XT MIG-MAG pulse welding machine.

Lorch product range

The MIG-MAG program includes the S, P, R, MX, iQS and MicorMIG series, with separate wire feeders such as the MF-10 full-protection feeder. Lorch also offers TIG and MMA inverters, Powermaster torches, the Lorch Connect monitoring system and cobot welding packages. Its Speed processes, including SpeedPulse XT, SpeedArc XT and the optional SpeedRoot and SpeedCold upgrades, are designed to raise welding speed and reduce spatter.

Ordering Lorch welding machines: what we need

State the series and model, the machine version (compact or separate wire feeder), gas or water cooling and the mains voltage at site. Add the hose package length, torch type and any process upgrades you need. For replacements, send the rating plate photo.
