Telwin Superior TIG 251 DC Pulse TIG Welding Machine

Description

Three-phase pulse TIG inverter with MMA and tack-weld functions

The Telwin SUPERIOR TIG 251 DC (code 816116, supplied with TIG accessories) is a direct-current inverter for TIG welding with HF or LIFT arc striking, pulse TIG and MMA. It delivers 10 to 250 A from a three-phase 400 V supply, and Telwin lists it for steel, stainless steel, titanium, copper, nickel and their alloys.

Besides standard TIG, the machine offers PULSE and EASY PULSE operation and a THINSPOT function for quick, precise tack welding of thin sheet. A VRD device is built in for safer working in damp environments, and the machine has connectors for remote control and for a G.R.A. water-cooling unit.

TIG and MMA settings

The TIG controls include bi-level current, start-up and end current, spot welding time, pre- and post-gas, up and down slope, DC balance and square-wave frequency. In MMA mode the machine provides arc force and hot start adjustment, with an anti-stick device, and it handles electrodes from 1.6 to 5 mm. Protections listed by Telwin cover thermal overload, over- and undervoltage, overcurrent and the water cooling unit.

The duty cycle is a useful guide for planning: 150 A at 35%, 115 A at 60%, and a maximum of 230 A at 20% under EN 60974-1. Continuous TIG work on thicker sections should therefore be planned around the 60% value, or around an external water cooling unit if the torch is water-cooled.

Choosing accessories and configuration

The kit version includes the ST26 TIG welding kit (802788). Telwin also lists premium ST26 PRO-P torches in 4 m (743025) and 8 m (743027) lengths with AX50 5-pin connection, a standard ST26 8 m torch (743123), an electrode holder with 25 mm2 cable (804123) and a quick gas connector (804208). For remote current control there are the RC-20 hand control, a foot control and a remote device, and two trolleys, ARCTIC and AMERICA, carry the machine and cylinder.

Check that the workshop has a three-phase 400 V supply protected by a 10 A fuse. At 16.4 kg and 43 x 17.5 x 34 cm the machine can be moved between stations by hand.
