Telwin Technology TIG 230 DC Inverter TIG Welder

Description

Portable DC TIG inverter for single-phase supply

The Telwin Technology TIG 230 DC (code 816930) is a single-phase 230 V inverter for DC TIG and MMA welding. Weighing 14.75 kg, it is meant for maintenance teams, small fabrication shops and installers who need a stable DC TIG arc on steel, stainless steel, titanium, copper, nickel and their alloys, without a three-phase supply. Code 816930 is the kit version supplied with TIG accessories; the power source alone is listed as 816518.

An LCD screen shows the TIG welding curve and lets the welder adjust start and end current, spot time, pre- and post-gas, upslope and downslope, balance and pulse frequency. Ten custom programs can be stored and recalled. Pulse and Easy Pulse operation reduce distortion on thin parts, and 2-stroke, 4-stroke and bi-level trigger modes are available. Arc ignition is HF or LIFT at optimised minimum current.

Where a 230 V DC TIG set makes sense

DC TIG covers carbon steel, stainless steel and copper alloys but not aluminium, which needs AC. A 220 A single-phase machine handles sheet and thin-wall tube up to a few millimetres comfortably and can tack and root thicker joints. The 35% rating at 220 A means long welds at full output need pauses; at lower currents typical for thin stainless, the machine can run much longer. On generators, choose a set with clean voltage regulation; Telwin states that the machine tolerates -15% to +15% mains variation.

The MMA side, with pulse, hot start and arc force, makes the same unit useful for site repairs with basic or rutile electrodes up to 4 mm. A foot pedal or hand remote helps with crater filling and heat control on thin parts. The cooling air tunnel keeps dust away from the electronics, which matters on construction and workshop floors.

For good DC TIG results on stainless steel, use a non-thoriated tungsten electrode such as ceriated or lanthanated, grind it to a point along its length, and protect the back of the joint with argon purge when full penetration is required. These general practices matter more for weld quality than the last few amperes of output, and they apply to any DC TIG inverter of this class.

Documents and quotation

The attached Telwin instruction manual covers the Technology TIG family, with safety, installation and operating information in several languages. For a quotation, state whether you need the kit (816930) or the power source only, and any remote control or extra cables. Compare with other TIG welding machines.

About brand
Telwin is an Italian manufacturer of welding equipment, plasma cutting systems and battery chargers and starters, operating since 1963. The family-run company has its headquarters and industrial centre in Villaverla, in the province of Vicenza. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the Telwin Supermig 500i XD multi-process inverter. Telwin divisions and products The manual welding division covers MIG-MAG, TIG and MMA inverters, including the Supermig i and Technomig ranges, together with torches, wire feeders, cooling units and protective equipment. Further divisions handle plasma cutting, battery charging and starting, charging systems for electric vehicles and car body repair systems. Ordering Telwin equipment: what we need Telwin identifies each product by a six-digit code, such as 816201, so send the code with the model name. For a welding set, state whether you need the power source alone or a pack with wire feeder, trolley or water cooling, and give the mains voltage at site.
