Lovato DMED330 Three-Phase Energy Meter for CT Connection
Description
Billing-grade active energy metering on a four-module DIN-rail housing
The DMED330 is a three-phase energy meter from the Lovato Electric DMED range, listed as three-phase with and without neutral. It is connected through current transformers with a 5 A secondary (maximum current 5 A) and rated for 380-415 VAC line-to-line and 220-240 VAC line-to-neutral, with an operating range printed in the table.
Accuracy for active energy is Class 0.5s (IEC/EN 62053-22) and for reactive energy Class 2; a calibration LED pulses at 1000 pulse/kWh. The housing is 4 DIN-rail modules wide.

Selecting the meter
Because the meter is CT-connected, choose current transformers whose primary matches the circuit being measured, with a 5 A secondary and an accuracy class suited to the metering purpose. Direct-connection meters in the same family (DMED300 and others) cover up to 80 A without CTs.
Check whether MID certification is needed for sub-billing; the MID versions carry different order codes, so do not assume this code is a MID version unless the datasheet states it.
Applications and installation
Typical use is sub-metering of motors, chillers, HVAC plant and feeders in a distribution board, with the calibration LED (1000 pulses per kWh, 30 ms pulse duration) or a serial interface feeding a building or energy management system.
Current ratings printed in the datasheet: maximum current 5 A, minimum 0.05 A, transition current 0.25 A, starting current 0.005 mA, reference current 5 A. Operating voltage ranges are 323 to 456 VAC line-to-line and 187 to 264 VAC line-to-neutral, so the meter tolerates normal supply variation. Power consumption is 3.5 VA with a dissipation of 2.7 W, and the housing is polyamide with fixed terminals.
For a clear installation, record the current transformer ratio on the front or in the commissioning sheet, because the meter itself shows secondary-side values and the multiplier must be applied in the reading or in the supervisory software.

About brand
Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.
Where Lovato products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
