Lovato SM1P3200 24-32 A Motor Protection Circuit Breaker

Description

SM1 breaker with a 24-32 A thermal range

Where a motor feeder needs a switch, overload protection and short-circuit protection in one place, the three-pole SM1P3200 from the Lovato Electric SM1 range does all three; the overload dial adjusts over 24-32 A.

Rated current In is 32 A; the thermal release adjusts 24-32 A and the magnetic release trips at 13 x In. Breaking capacity values are listed as 10 kA at 400 V, 10 kA at 440 V and 2 kA at 690 V. The tripping class is 10A.

Matching the breaker to the motor

Because the thermal release adjusts only within 24-32 A, selection is simple: find the code whose window holds the motor current, then confirm the breaking capacity (10 kA Icu at 400 V) exceeds the fault level on the board.

At 400 V the breaking capacity is 10 kA (Icu) and 5 kA (Ics). Compare that with the fault level at your board, and look at the 440 V to 690 V columns where the figures can drop sharply.

Where it is used

The breaker also works as a manual motor switch: the front handle switches the motor on and off and indicates a trip. That makes it useful for local isolation at pumps, fans and machine tools.

It mounts by screws or on a 35 mm DIN rail, weighs 350 g and operates between the temperature limits listed in the table above. Power dissipation per pole is 2.49 W to 4.42 W, which matters for enclosure heat calculations.

Documents and quotation

All data on this page for SM1P3200 is taken from the Lovato Electric catalogue datasheet (English), which you can download from the attachment list. What to confirm before ordering: the motor full-load current, the supply voltage and the prospective short-circuit current at the panel. The manufacturer can revise published data at any time. See circuit breakers for similar items. Quote request: give the exact code SM1P3200, the quantity and where it must be delivered, and Seven Star LLC (independent supplier, Muscat) will respond.

About brand

Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
