Brand:

Wolf Safety HT-650 Zone 0 ATEX LED Headtorch

Description

Hands-free Zone 0 headtorch for confined and awkward hazardous-area work

The Wolf Safety HT-650 is an intrinsically safe LED headtorch certified for use in gas Zones 0, 1 and 2 and dust Zones 21 and 22. It is CE marked to the ATEX Directive and certified under the IECEx scheme, and its approval code also covers mining under Group I M1.

The HT-650 is built for hands-free work where access is difficult, such as climbing, crawling or working inside vessels and tank farms. It weighs 180 grams including three AA cells and is moulded from chemical-resistant, high-impact thermoplastic with a shatterproof polycarbonate lens. A tilt mechanism lets the wearer angle the beam, and the torch can be switched with one hand.

What is supplied and how the beam behaves

The HT-650 is supplied with an adjustable, removable fabric headband, a washable silicone rubber strap that grips a hard hat, and four helmet clips. The beam combines a spot of about 22 degrees with a wide fringe of about 100 degrees. Wolf quotes 32 lux at 1 m and 8 lux at 2.5 m for the fringe, which gives a usable pool of light around the work position while the spot lights the point of focus.

Because it uses primary AA cells, there is no charging infrastructure to manage, and the datasheet quotes up to 17 hours per set. Wolf also lists a NATO-codified version, HT-650MOD, which is available only to MOD customers.

Choosing and using a Zone 0 headtorch

Zone 0 equipment has to be the right category for atmospheres that are present continuously or for long periods, so confirm that the plant classification permits the HT-650 and that its T4 or T3 class suits the gases present. The datasheet says the temperature class depends on the battery type, so use only the cells specified by Wolf and follow the instruction manual.

Change batteries only in a safe area, inspect the lens and body for cracks before each shift, and keep the certificate documents in the equipment file.

About brand

Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history in mining safety lamps going back more than a century. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.

Hazardous-area lighting ranges

The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.

Certification and application

Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
